When Sophia got back to Jenston, Easton had an important engagement tonight, but he’d made sure Gordon was there to pick her up at the airport.

“Charlotte, want us to give you a ride?” Sophia offered.

Charlotte shook her head. “No, thanks. Frank’s already here.”

Sophia followed Charlotte’s gaze toward the parking lot and saw Frank standing beside his car.

She gave Frank a nod in greeting.

“Alright, let’s catch up with the design plan the day after tomorrow. Go home and get some rest,” Sophia said.

After Charlotte left, Sophia got into Easton’s car.

“Sophia, Easton will be home late tonight. He’s tied up with an important client and can’t get away right now,” Gordon said.

Sophia gave a gentle smile. “It’s fine, I already got his message earlier.”

Not long after she got in the car, Easton called.

“Did Gordon get you?” he asked.

“Yeah, we’re already on our way,” Sophia replied.

Easton’s voice was gentle, “You head home first. I’ll try to finish up early and come back to you.”

“Sure,” Sophia said with a smile.

When Sophia got back to Silvermoon Bay, Lucas was already asleep. She quietly slipped into his room and stood by his bedside for a moment, just watching him sleep. Her heart melted at the sight of his peaceful little face.

She reached out and gently stroked his cheek, her eyes soft with affection. “Lucas, you’re looking more and more like your dad,” she whispered.

As she left Lucas’s room, her phone rang. It was May. “You home yet?” she asked.

Sophia walked into the study and settled into the office chair. “Just got back a little while ago.”

“I just heard from Ryan that Easton’s already set it up. Once Allison’s healed up, she’s heading back to Menolia with her dad. Not bad. Easton finally wised up about this stuff. I gotta admit, I’m seeing him in a new light,” May said.

Sophia looked a bit surprised. “That’s just not Easton’s style of letting personal stuff interfere with work.”

“Seriously, Sophia, you’re the woman he went through hell and high water to marry. He knows Allison’s got bad intentions. Why would he let her stick around and cause drama between you two?” May said.

Sophia hesitated for a moment.

“After what happened, I’ve got Allison all figured out now. Yeah, she saved Easton, but I can’t help but think she planned the whole thing herself.” Sophia said.

“I wasn’t about to wait for Easton to kick her out. I was ready to do it myself. But that day, Rowen called me,” she said. May sounded surprised.

“Wait, you mean Allison’s dad, Rowen, actually called you?” she asked.

“Yeah, turns out Rowen and I actually crossed paths once. It was at a wedding years ago. I even helped him out,” Sophia said.

“Wow, what a coincidence,” May said.

“Yeah, the old man didn’t say much, but he was basically asking us to let Allison off the hook. He figured her getting hurt this time was punishment enough,” Sophia said.

Sophia wasn’t exactly a pushover, but she got where he was coming from as a parent. Since Rowen was already set on taking Allison away, and out of respect for him being Easton’s mentor. Sophia decided to let it slide.

“Let’s just leave it at that. What time’s your flight tomorrow?” Sophia asked.

“I’ll land in Jenston around ten tomorrow morning,” May replied.

Sophia glanced at her computer’s calendar. “Swing by in the afternoon if you can. The Bluewave Hotel project is about to start, and it’s best if you’re there for the legal side of things.”

“Alright, see you tomorrow,” May said.

After hanging up, Sophia’s stomach started to ache.
