508 Chapter 508
508.Chapter 508
But knowing his meetings usually dragged on, Sophia shot him a quick text when she arrived at Foster Group, telling him she’d check out the mall nearby and to call her when he was free.
Easton always texted her back in seconds. Sophia glanced at her phone and couldn’t help but smile.
The Foster Group’s mall was just a short walk from the main building. Sophia hopped out of the taxi and made her way toward the mall.
“Sophia.” The voice was so familiar. Sophia turned and spotted Frank near the mall entrance, his assistant right behind him. Sophia shot him a cold look, not even acknowledging his presence.
Frank didn’t seem to care. Seeing Sophia’s expression, he had a pretty good idea why.
He walked up to Sophia. “It’s been a while.”
Sophia clenched her jaw, holding back her anger. “I’m in a rush. Move.”
Frank stepped forward. “Can we talk for a minute?” he asked.
Sophia gave a cold laugh, “Frank, what could we possibly have to talk about?”
Frank stepped in front of her, blocking her way. Just then, Easton’s bodyguards jumped out of a car and hurried over to Sophia. “Mrs. Foster, are you alright?” one of them asked.
Sophia was caught off guard by the sudden appearance of the bodyguards. ‘Where did these guys come from?’ she wondered, but quickly composed herself and shook her head. “I’m fine.”
The bodyguard respectfully cleared a path for her. “Please go ahead, Mrs. Foster. I’ll take care of the rest.”
Sophia glanced at him, gave a slight nod, and walked straight into the mall.
She didn’t call Easton. She knew he was in a meeting, so she dialed Gordon instead.
When Gordon saw Sophia’s name pop up on his phone, he instinctively glanced at Easton, who was sitting at the head of the conference table. Then, he quietly slipped out of the room with his phone.
“Ms. Roth, are you looking for Mr. Foster?” Gordon asked.
Sophia’s voice was calm, “I know he’s busy. I’m calling you instead. Did Easton have someone following me around?”
Gordon paused for a moment. He knew all about it, but without Easton’s go-ahead, he didn’t feel comfortable saying anything.
“I just ran into Frank at the mall entrance. Those guys thought he might try something, so they stepped in right away,” Sophia said.
Gordon understood. Now that their cover was blown, there was no point hiding it from Sophia anymore.
“Mr. Foster’s always been concerned about your safety, so he arranged for a few bodyguards to watch over you without interfering with your routine,” Gordon explained.
He added, “They’re just there for your protection, and normally, you wouldn’t even notice them unless there’s trouble.”
Sophia nodded. “Alright, I understand. I was just surprised when a bunch of strangers suddenly showed up around me, so I called to clarify what was going on. Just being cautious, not blaming anyone.”
Gordon breathed a sigh of relief. ‘Ms. Roth is so thoughtful. No wonder Mr. Foster adores her,’ he thought.
“Are you at the mall right now? Would you like me to have the mall manager come over?” Gordon asked.
“No need, really. I’m just browsing. Don’t worry about me. And let’s not mention this to Easton for now. I don’t want him to get too worried or let it affect his work,” Sophia said.
“Got it,” Emily replied.
After Sophia hung up, the bodyguards followed her into the mall. “Sorry for the trouble, Mrs. Foster,” one of them said.
Sophia gave a gentle smile. “It’s alright. Honestly, I should be thanking you guys.”
Just then, a message from Frank popped up on her phone.
Frank: [Sophia, I’m not out to hurt you. I honestly don’t know what Easton’s been telling you, but suddenly you’re treating me like the enemy. Can you just give me a chance to explain?]
