513 Chapter 513
513.Chapter 513
At Hayes Group, Frank had recently lost several projects he was overseeing for Dexter. It was getting more and more obvious that Jackson was siding with Dexter.
But Frank didn’t care at all. With Suncrest Holdings and Mason backing him up, he figured that illegitimate kid wasn’t even close to being qualified to take his spot as vice president.
His assistant walked into the office carrying a stack of files. “Mr. Hayes, Easton and Ryan from Foster Group flew out of Jenston to Cedarica last night,” the man reported.
Frank looked up and said, “Yeah, their research center in Cedarica is about to go public, so Easton probably won’t be back anytime soon. Make sure Sophia’s people are in place. Wait for my signal, then find a way to keep them occupied.”
The assistant nodded. “Understood.”
“And book me a flight to Windmere. I’m leaving in a couple of days,” Frank added.
The assistant looked conflicted. “Mr. Hayes, the chairman’s been pretty unhappy with you lately. If you leave the company now, won’t that give him a chance to make a move?” he said.
Frank knew exactly who the assistant was talking about, but he had more important things to deal with right now and couldn’t afford to worry about it.
He knew Jackson’s personality well. He wouldn’t make any drastic moves right away. Besides, his wedding to Charlotte was getting closer, and there was no way Jackson would risk upsetting Mason.
“Leave the chairman to me. You don’t need to come with me to Windmere this time. Just stay here, hold down the fort, and keep things running smoothly. If anything comes up, let me know right away,” Frank said.
Seeing Frank was set on this, the assistant just nodded and kept quiet.
“Got it,” he replied.
Once the assistant left, Frank’s usual gentle facade melted away, his eyes turning dark and sinister.
‘Easton, when you’re left with nothing, Sophia will be mine,’ Frank thought, a cruel smile tugging at his lips.
As for Dexter, Frank had never taken him seriously. A mere illegitimate child. Once he helped Virginia snatch the shares of Foster Group, with her backing him, Hayes Group would be in the bag.
Frank scoffed, a look of disdain flashing across his face.
‘Once I’m done with Easton, Dexter’s luck is about to run out, he thought.
Meanwhile, in Cedarica, Easton had just gotten back to his apartment. He was about to call Sophia when his phone lit up with her name on the screen.
“Did you make it?” Sophia’s gentle voice came through the line.
Easton’s lips curled into a smile. “Yeah, I just got here. I was about to call you, and you beat me to it. Did you miss me?” he replied.
Sophia chuckled softly, “Yeah, I did miss you.”
“How about I have Gordon get the plane ready and fly you over here?” Easton suggested.
Sophia knew Easton meant it. If she agreed, Gordon would have a driver waiting at Silvermoon Bay’s gate in no time.
“Don’t be silly. I’ve got an important meeting first thing tomorrow. I’ll try to wrap things up early and come see you,” she said. Easton loosened his tie and sat down on the couch. “I’m starting to wonder if I’ll get insomnia tonight without you here.” Sophia laughed, “Well, I can’t help you with that. Maybe I should have Gordon send someone over to pamper you?”
“Sophia, don’t try to trick me. I’m not letting any strange women anywhere near me,” Easton replied.
“Mr. Foster, I’m actually pretty impressed by your self-control,” Sophia teased.
