314 Chapter 514
514.Chapter 514
Easton chuckled, “With you being so jealous, there’s no way I’d risk screwing up. If I did, I might not even make it past the gates of Silvermoon Bay, let alone get into our bedroom.”
Sophia couldn’t help but laugh at his words.
“Sophia, we’ve got some leads on Stella’s whereabouts. Fletcher’s already sent more people to track her down. Just give him a little time. We’ll have her found in no time,” Easton said.
Sophia just hummed in response.
“I won’t ever let her come back and hurt you, or mess with the hard-won peace we have now” Easton said, his voice low and full of determination.
“Easton, I trust you. You don’t have to make any promises to me. I’ve told you before. No matter what I always have farth in you, Sophia replied softly.
Easton felt his heart melt at her words. If she were here with him right now, he wouldn’t hesitate to pull her into his arms.
“While I’m away, make sure to take good care of yourself, and thank you for looking after our child. I know it’s not easy.” Easton said gently.
“Don’t worry about anything else, just focus on your work. It’s already late, so try to get some rest. I’ll call you again tomorrow, Sophia replied softly.
“Sure,” Easton said with a smile.
Not long after they hung up, Easton’s phone rang again.
He glanced at the caller ID and a faint smile tugged at his lips.
“It’s not often you call me,” he said.
O
A low, devilish voice came through the line, “Everything’s going smoothly over here. Don’t worry.”
“I’ve always had faith in you. I was just a little worried you might not settle in when you first got back,” Easton said.
The man’s voice dropped lower, “Nothing fazes me. I’m the same wherever I end up. Still, I didn’t expect you’d have me target him of all people.”
Easton lit a cigarette. “I’m just giving you the perfect chance to settle the score and take back what’s rightfully yours.”
“Easton, you know that’s not what I’m after,” the man replied.
Easton leaned back in his chair, eyes locked on the data on his screen. “Killing’s illegal, but there’s a kind of payback that’s even worse. Make them wish they were dead.”
He continued, “Finish this, and let your enemies taste every bit of the pain you went through. That’s way better than just shooting them and calling them done. Don’t you think I’m right?”
The man paused for a moment and then replied, “Easton, you’re always right.”
Easton let out a low chuckle, then asked, “So, what exactly is your relationship with that woman?”
“She’s the one who saved my life,” the man answered.
Easton nodded, getting the picture.
“Alright, just keep your head in the game for now. We’re almost ready to wrap things up. Once it’s all done, you can finally go after her for real. After all, it’s not every day you meet someone you truly care about,” he said.
“Then, I’ll count on Sophia to keep an eye on her for me these days,” the man added.
Easton stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray. “Just do your thing. Sophia’s gotten pretty close to her lately. You can trust her to look after her.”
Once he hung up, Easton dialed up Ryan, “The flight’s early tomorrow. Everything good on your side?”
“”No worries, Mr. Foster. Fletcher’s handling everything, down to the last detail. Nobody’s gonna have a clue about your real
whereabouts after tomorrow. Frank and his crew will think you’re in Cedarica for a business trip, nothing out of the ordinary,” Ryan assured him.
Easton’s gaze sharpened. “Give Windmere the heads-up. It’s time.”
