After checking out the hotel’s training program, Charlotte realized it was getting late. She took the elevator back up to the fifth floor.

She saw a few bodyguards standing outside the office, so she figured Sophia was probably still busy inside.

She gave the bodyguards a slight nod and then knocked on the door.

But there was no response from inside.

Charlotte turned the handle and walked in. “Sophia?” she called out.

There was no sign of Sophia in the office, and she wasn’t in the bathroom either.

Charlotte hurried out of the office. “Did Ms. Roth go out?” she asked.

The bodyguards instantly sensed something was off when they heard Charlotte. They rushed into the office, glancing around and even checking the window.

This was the fifth floor, and there was a construction site below. If someone wanted to kidnap Mrs. Foster, escaping through the window would be impossible.

Not a single sound had come from the office the whole time.

The lead bodyguard told the others to look around the office.

Just as expected, they discovered a secret passage behind the bookshelf.

Charlotte’s face went pale with shock.

Just then, Samantha came in, acting all concerned. “What’s going on?” she asked.

Charlotte grabbed Samantha. “Why is there even a secret passage in your office?” she snapped.

Samantha glanced at the secret passage Charlotte was pointing at, then at the intimidating bodyguards standing nearby.

Her voice shook as she said, “I really don’t know. This is only my second time here, and I’ve mostly been working at the Jenston office.”

The lead bodyguard obviously didn’t believe her. He told two of his men to restrain her, then whipped out his phone and called Easton right away.

Easton was in a meeting with the company’s top executives in the Windmere conférence room.

His phone was vibrating.

When he saw the caller ID, his eyebrows twitched in surprise. ‘Why is Sophia’s bodyguard calling me at this hour? Did something happen?’ Easton thought, a sense of unease creeping in.

Easton raised his hand to signal the executive who was presenting to pause, then quickly answered the call.

“Mr. Foster, something’s wrong. Mrs. Foster has been kidnapped,” the bodyguard said urgently.

With a loud crash, Easton shot to his feet, sending his chair sliding into the wall behind him.

“Mr. Foster, what’s going on?” Gordon asked, startled.

Easton brushed past Gordon and Ryan and bolted out of the conference room.

Easton rushed toward the elevator, with Ryan and Gordon close behind. Ryan called out, “What’s going on, Mr. Foster?”

Easton’s expression was dark, his jaw set. Ryan saw him open a tracking app on his phone and suddenly realized what was happening.

“Gordon, get the plane ready. We’re flying back to Jenston. Now, Easton ordered.

But Easton suddenly spoke up, his voice cold and firm, “No, to Duskspire.”

Easten didn’t even have to say it out loud. Ryan already knew what was happening.

As soon as the three of them got in the car, Fletcher called.

“Mr. Foster, Frank was listed among the passengers who flew to Duskspire with Ms. Roth today,” Fletcher reported.

Easton listened to Fletcher, his eyes fixed on the road ahead, his expression chillingly grim.

“Mr. Foster, we’ve increased our manpower and are tracking the clues from the secret passage. We’ll find Ms. Roth as soon as possible,” Fletcher said again.

Easton’s voice was low and icy, “I don’t care what it takes, and I don’t care who you have to cross. Turn Duskspire upside down if you must. I want Sophia found, no matter what.”
