524 Chapter 524
524.Chapter 524
Easton had already dug up all the dirt on Samantha. Now that Frank’s assistant had spilled everything, there was really no reason to keep her around anymore.
He was sure Fletcher had already taught her a harsh lesson. With those injuries, she wouldn’t be getting back on her feet for at least two months.
When Vivian heard Easton say that, she knew he’d have his people let Samantha go. There was no reason for her to stick around any longer.
Derrick smirked, “Easton, you really do play by the book here in Cambul. Makes sense, though. This place runs on rules, and you’ve got people counting on you. Some things are better handled once they’re back on their own turf anyway.”
Not long after Vivian left, Eleanore finally emerged from the operating room.
Easton and Derrick hurried over, anxiety written all over their faces. “How’s Sophia?” Easton asked, his voice barely steady.
Eleanore bit her lip. She said, “Mr. Foster, I’m really sorry… We couldn’t save the baby. The anesthesia hasn’t worn off yet, so Sophia’s still out cold.”
Easton’s hands at his sides curled into tight fists, his knuckles bone-white as he struggled to hold back the storm of pain and rage inside him. ‘Why did it have to end like this?’ he thought, the ache almost unbearable.
Derrick squeezed his shoulder, trying to keep him grounded. “Hey, don’t lose it yet. Let’s wait for Sophia to wake up before we do anything.”
Sophia was soon wheeled out of the operating room. Easton’s gaze was filled with heartbreak and worry as he watched her lying there. He never let go of her hand, following closely as the nurse took her back to her room.
Derrick saw Eleanore’s eyes were red and walked over to give her a gentle hug. “Thank you for everything,” he said softly.
Eleanore sniffled and held Derrick tight, not wanting to let go.
“You were gone for so long in Riverdale… I really thought you were going to walk out on me again,” she whispered.
Derrick tried to soothe Eleanore, “Never. I promised your mother I’d always take care of you.”
Eleanore had already learned the whole story from her mom. Everything that went down between Derrick and the Keats family. She finally understood all the stuff he’d been dealing with, and why he had no choice but to break up with her back then.
It all came down to the fact that she was Douglas Keats’s daughter.
Her mom divorced Douglas when Eleanore was barely a year old, but blood ties were still there. Her mother was terrified that Derrick was only with her to get revenge on the Keats family, so she forced him to walk away.
Eleanore knew she wasn’t the only one hurting from the breakup. Derrick had been suffering just as much.
All these years, he’d been wandering alone overseas. Whenever Eleanore thought about how the Keats family had treated Derrick and his mom, her heart twisted with guilt and pain.
No matter how hard the road ahead might be, she was determined to give Derrick a true home filled with happiness.
Hand in hand, Derrick walked into the room with Eleanore.
Sophia was awake now. She was devastated by the loss, but she didn’t want to make Easton feel even guiltier than he already did.
She reached out, gently cupping Easton’s face. “Please, don’t blame yourself. It wasn’t your fault.”
Easton leaned down, hugged her tightly, and kissed her forehead. “I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault. I should’ve protected you better.”
Ryan’s phone buzzed. It was Fletcher calling. He slipped out of the room to answer.
“Ryan, Frank just took off in a helicopter,” Fletcher reported.
Ryan’s face darkened. ‘Damn it, he got away, he thought.
“Alright. Keep tracking him,” Ryan said.
After making sure Sophia was finally asleep, Easton quietly slipped out of the room.
“Easton, Fletcher just called. Frank took off in a helicopter. I’m guessing he’s already mapped out his escape, Should we have someone keep an eye on the airport?” Ryan asked, his voice tense.
“Frank was planning to smuggle Sophia out of the country. There’s no way he’d risk using Duskspire Airport,” Easton said,

his tone icy.
Easton’s eyes were cold and dark, the murderous intent in them unmistakable. His whole face was tense, every line carved with lethal resolve.
“Call Dexter. He knows exactly where Frank’s hiding in Evaris. Tell him, Frank doesn’t walk out of there alive,” Easton ordered, his voice cold as ice.
