In Jenston, after spending three days at Duskspire Hospital, Easton arranged a private jet to fly Sophia back to Jenston.

Sophia was feeling much better, and Easton was with her every single day.

She didn’t want to stay in the hospital, so Ryan got a family doctor and nurse to move into Silvermoon Bay.

Sophia didn’t want Lucas or Irene to worry about her, so she asked Easton to let Lucas stay at Windmere Estate for a while.

After recuperating at home for half a month, Sophia’s health had greatly improved.

That day, Charlotte and May came to Silvermoon Bay to visit Sophia.

Easton wanted to help Sophia downstairs, but she thought he was way too worried. She quickly said, “I can walk by myself, really. Your meeting’s waiting for you. Go start your video call.”

Easton coaxed her gently, “Come on, be good. The doctor said your blood sugar’s still low. Let me help you downstairs, then I’ll come back up and get to work.”

Sophia couldn’t say no to him, so she just let him walk her downstairs to the living room.

May walked over and hugged Sophia, sounding really worried. “Babe, you’ve had it rough. That jerk Ryan kept saying I couldn’t come see you, and only let me visit today.”

Sophia smiled and said, “It’s okay. He was just afraid you’d see me not feeling well and get upset yourself.”

May nodded.

Easton didn’t interrupt their conversation and went straight back to his study upstairs.

Charlotte had been worried sick about Sophia, but they’d already chatted on WhatsApp before. Seeing Sophia looking so much better today, she could finally relax a little after days of worrying.

“Charlotte, don’t blame yourself. This really has nothing to do with you. You didn’t know anything. Honestly, I should be the one apologizing.” Sophia said.

She added, “I wanted to find the right time to tell you about Frank, but I never expected him to go off the rails after he found out I was pregnant.”

Charlotte squeezed Sophia’s hand. “I never had any feelings for Frank. Our engagement was just a family arrangement. I never cared who he was or what he did.”

“So now that Frank’s on the run, your engagement should be off, right?” Sophia asked.

Charlotte fell silent. “Jackson won’t let it be called off.”

Sophia and May exchanged confused looks. “What do you mean, he won’t cancel it?” they asked at the same time.

Charlotte looked downcast. “Jackson, my grandpa, and Mason talked it over Frank’s been erased from the Hayes family register. Now Dexter’s the Hayes family’s eldest son, so basically, I’m supposed to marry Dexter instead.”

May was stunned by the news, but for Sophia, it didn’t come as a surprise at all.

‘Dexter must have been pulling strings behind the scenes to keep the engagement from being called off, Sophia thought.

Sophia instinctively looked upstairs, thinking to herself, ‘Tonight, I need to dig up the truth about all this.’

Then Charlotte continued, “Sophia, I’ve already quit my job at Hayes Group. I’m stuck with this engagement, but at least I get to choose my own career, right?”

Sophia nodded in agreement, “So, what are you planning to do next? Bluewave Hotel’s in your name, but it won’t open for another six months.”

Charlotte bit her lip. “Sophia, can I work with you and pick up some skills? Seriously, I might not know much, but I’m super hardworking. Whatever you need, I’m up for it.”

Sophia snorted with laughter. “Aren’t you worried I’ll rope you into something shady?” she teased.

‘Charlotte shook her head. “No way! You’re the vice president of Crestview Group and soon to be the boss lady of Foster

Group. Getting to work with you is like winning the lottery.”
