526 Chapter 526
526.Chapter 526
May gave Charlotte a big thumbs-up. “Charlotte, you’ve got a bright future ahead! Not only can you learn from Sophia at work, but you can also pick her brain on how to be a CEO’s wife.”
May added, “After all, you’ll be Hayes Group’s CEO’s wife someday.”
Charlotte lowered her eyes. Just thinking about Dexter, that lunatic, made her instinctively touch her lips, and a chill ran down her spine.
The Foster Group Research Center had just gone public, and the celebration party was originally supposed to be held in Cedarica.
But Easton, knowing Sophia had only just recovered and didn’t want her getting exhausted from traveling, switched the party to Jenston at the last minute.
Gordon and Katherine had been so swamped lately that they were practically seeing stars. Both secretly messaged Sophia, which she found hilarious. They all seemed to think she had Easton wrapped around her finger and could work some pillow talk magic on him.
Honestly, the whole company was burning the midnight oil every day, and even Gordon ended up getting sick from all the stress.
So when Sophia mentioned it to Easton during their nightly chat, he actually called a meeting the next day and cut everyone’ s workload by a third.
“Sophia, seriously, only you can get through to Easton right now. You have no idea, he’s been in such a foul mood at the office, never even cracking a smile, and just keeps piling on more work for everyone.” Katherine said.
“Even Gordon, who’s never taken a day off in years, is stuck at home sick. Tomorrow’s the celebration, and for the first time ever, he won’t be by Easton’s side. Honestly, your Easton’s been putting us all through hell lately, including himself,” she added.
Sophia pressed her lips together. Easton had been in a bad mood ever since they got back from Duskspire. She knew he was beating himself up inside, feeling guilty and miserable, and the only way he could cope was by throwing himself into work.
After hanging up with Katherine, Sophia got up and headed to the study to look for him.
She knocked on the door, and when no one answered, she just stepped inside.
Easton was out on the balcony, smoking.
Sophia gently slipped her arms around his waist from behind. “Easton, smoking so much is bad for you.”
Seeing Sophia, Easton quickly put out his cigarette, which he hadn’t even taken a couple of puffs, and crushed it in the ashtray.
He turned around and pulled Sophia into his arms. “Let’s go inside. It’s windy out here.”
Easton lifted Sophia and settled her gently onto the office chair, keeping her close. She held his face in her hands and kissed him softly on the lips. “Easton, everything that happened is behind us now. Please don’t be sad anymore, okay?” she whispered.
Easton held her tightly in his arms. “Okay,” he murmured.
Sophia could tell Easton was just brushing her off, so she looked up and bit his shoulder, not so gently.
“Ouch!” Easton winced.
“Easton, seriously, if you keep acting like this, I’ll stop talking to you. I know you care about our baby and me, and I get why you’re blarning yourself and feeling down. But what’s done is done. We have to move on,” Sophia said.
Easton hugged her even tighter. “Sophia, Lucas is all we need. I can’t even imagine how much you’d suffer if you ever went through that again.”
Sophia knew she’d really shaken him this time.

The celebration party was held at Foster Group’s luxury six-star hotel.
The entrance was packed with reporters, all eager to be the first to catch Easton and Sophia walking hand in hand for the very first time.
Allison stood among the crowd, makeup on point and dressed in a hotel staff uniform. She was just waiting for the
