Sophia listened to the sound of water running in the bathroom, her hands clenched tightly. She walked slowly to the door, biting her lip until the sting helped clear her mind.

‘No, Easton would never betray me, she told herself.

‘But what if he was drunk and couldn’t tell if it was Allison or me standing there? Or what if Allison had slipped something into his drink?’ Every possibility ran through Sophia’s mind.

But in her heart, she still believed in Easton.

She pushed open the bathroom door and saw Easton soaking in the tub. The scene was nothing like what she’d pictured. She quickly said, “You guys go out first. Take Allison with you. Wait until Easton wakes up, then we’ll handle her.” Dexter called for the hotel staff. Charlotte noticed Allison was exposed, with so many men in the room. Even though she hated Allison, as a woman herself, she thought it was better to cover her up with a blanket.

But Dexter grabbed her hand. “Don’t dirty your hands. Let the staff do it,” be said.

The staff who came in were all women. Charlotte glanced at Dexter, and then nodded. “Alright.” Before they could leave, Sophia hurried into the bathroom and locked the door behind her.

She walked over slowly, noticing how pale and unwell Easton looked. Reaching out, she gently touched his cheek. “Easton, it’s me.”

Easton was soaking in ice-cold water, and it was below freezing in Jenston. His lips trembled, but when he heard her familiar voice, he slowly opened his eyes. “Honey, trust me. I didn’t do anything to hurt you.”

Sophia nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. “I know. I believe you.”

With that, she hugged him tightly.

“I’ve already had them take care of things outside. Let me help you. If you stay there any longer, you’ll get sick,” she said softly.

Easton shook his head. “Allison slipped something into my honey water when the waiter wasn’t looking. I feel really bad right now.”

Sophia froze for a moment. She knew exactly how dangerous those drugs could be.

If Easton wasn’t feeling so sick, she could have handled this herself.

She quickly pulled out her phone and called Ryan, telling him to get a doctor over here right away.

Ten minutes later, Sophia got Easton into a bathrobe and helped him onto the couch. Moments later, the doctor rushed in.

When Allison woke up, she was trembling all over. She never expected Easton to be this terrifying. She remembered dosing him with plenty of drugs, and she’d taken off her dress, leaving herself exposed.

But to her shock, Easton was still somewhat conscious. She was right there, ready to offer herself to him, but he still managed to hold himself back.

When she tried to kiss Easton, he suddenly opened his eyes and clamped his hand around her throat. If the drugs hadn’t weakened him and forced him to release her, she genuinely thought he might strangle her to death right then and there.

She could barely breathe, and when Sophia and the others burst in, she just blacked out.

When Allison woke up and saw the room was empty, she threw on her shoes, not even bothering with anything else. She had to get out of here. If she waited for them to come back, she’d never escape.

She opened the door and nearly jumped out of her skin. Her father was standing right there.

“Dad,” she said in a small voice.

Rowen slapped her across the face. “Don’t call me that.”

Allison started crying, “Dad, I know I messed up. I’ll go back to Menolia with you, right now, okay?”

Rowen waved her off. “It’s too late. Easton and Mrs. Foster already knew everything about your plan with Vivian.”

Allison shook her head in disbelief. “No way. At most, they only know I drugged Easton tonight. How could they possibly know about the boss and me?” she replied.

Rowen snorted, “Still calling her ‘boss’? To her, you’re nothing but a pawn. To put it bluntly, you’re just her obedient dog. If she finds out you screwed up tonight, do you really think she’ll have any use for you after this? Impossible!”
