Mason chuckled softly. “When it comes to seducing men, she’s probably not even a tenth as good as you. I was very satisfied last night. Want to keep it going tonight?” he whistled.

June blew a breath into his ear. “Sure.”

Dexter led Charlotte over to Easton and Ryan. “Why don’t you go chat with Sophia and the girls for a while? I’ll be with Easton and the guys. When the party’s over, I’ll take you home.”

Charlotte nodded.

As soon as Dexter left, May couldn’t help but gossip. “Looks like things are going pretty well between you and Dexter. Honestly, I think he’s way hotter than Frank, and he’s got a much better personality, too. This engagement actually seems pretty solid.”

“And the best part is, Dexter’s already in charge now. With the way he handles things, he’ll have all those schemers in the Hayes family under control in no time. Once you marry him, he won’t let anyone give you a hard time,” May added. Sophia nodded in agreement with May. She actually knew a bit of the inside story. Dexter was seriously into Charlotte. Charlotte’s cheeks flushed as she listened to May’s words.

“Let’s just go with the flow. It’s not like I can change the fact that we’re engaged anyway,” she said.

Dexter’s words echoed in her mind. He was dead set on keeping this engagement. Like it or not, she didn’t really have a choice. ‘So honestly, what else could I do but just roll with it?’ she thought.

May poured Charlotte a glass of juice, then glanced over at Sophia. “Sophia, why have you been staring at Mason and June all night?” she asked..

Sophia lowered her gaze. She honestly didn’t know why. There was just something about that woman that made her feel uneasy, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.

Charlotte took a sip of her juice.

She explained, “Mason’s a total playboy, he’s always chasing after women. He’s almost forty, but he’s never even thought about settling down or having kids. But ever since he got together with Miss Jefferson, he’s really calmed down a lot.”

May and Sophia exchanged a look. Both of them were really curious about Miss Jefferson.

“Sophia, just look at her face. There’s no way that’s all natural. It’s not just a few touch-ups. It’s like she went full-on with all the latest tech. People online say it’s not even a face swap, it’s a whole head replacement,” May snarked.

Charlotte burst out laughing at May’s comment.

“May, seriously, those plastic surgery clinics in Haverton miss out on not hiring you as their legal advisor,” Charlotte joked. May grinned smugly. “Of course.”

Sophia shook her head with a laugh. “You two keep chatting. I’m gonna go find Annie. She came with my brother tonight, and I don’t want her to get bored. I’ll bring her over so we can all hang out together.”

Charlotte nodded. “Sure, I’d love to finally meet my idol.”

Sophia knew Charlotte was a huge fan of Annie. She never missed any of Annie’s performances.

Sophia wandered around the party hall and quickly spotted her brother and Annie. She also noticed Derrick standing nearby, holding Eleanore’s hand.

She was a bit taken aback. ‘Did Derrick finally settle everything with the Keats family? Are they finally able to be out in the open together now?’ she wondered.

Derrick caught the look in Sophia’s eyes as she walked over. He reached out and gave her forehead a playful tap. “Quit being so nosy,” he said.

Sophia rolled her eyes at him. “Annie, Eleanore, just ignore them. Let’s go sit over there. May and the others are waiting for us: We can all chat together.”

Eleanore instinctively glanced at Derrick, who gave her a doting nod.

The three of them headed back to where May and the others were hanging out. Charlotte couldn’t help but smile when she saw Annie and got up to say hi, but the second she noticed Eleanore standing right behind Annie, her smile faltered. Eleanore and Charlotte said in unison, “Why are you here?”
