535 Chapter 535
535.Chapter 535
May and Ryan finally tied the knot.
From the audience, Sophia watched as they exchanged vows and rings. She felt a wave of sentimental pride, almost like a mother seeing her child get married, her eyes growing misty with emotion.
Charlotte, sitting beside her, gently patted her hand to comfort her.
The very next day after the wedding, May and Ryan jetted off for their honeymoon.
Right before May boarded the plane, Sophia called her up, “Safe trip! And hey, it’d be perfect if you two leave as a couple and come back as a trio.”
May joked, “Sophia, are you hoping Ryan and I pick up a third wheel on our honeymoon to wait on me hand and foot?”
Sophia rubbed her forehead, half laughing, half helpless. “May, only you twist my words like that. I just want you to come back with a baby so Lucas has someone to play with.”
May burst out laughing. “Relax. As soon as we hit the hotel tomorrow, I’ll make sure Ryan doesn’t get a break, and we’ll keep at it every single day. Mission accepted.”
Sophia finally gave up trying to reason with May and just laughed. “Alright, alright, have a blast and take care!” she said.
After she hung up, Charlotte knocked and came in. “Sophia, June checked in at the Crestview lobby and said she wants to see you.”
“June?” Sophia asked.
Charlotte nodded.
Sophia thought for a moment and said, “Let the front desk know to have her wait in the lounge on the first floor. I’ll come down as soon as I wrap things up here.”
“Got it,” Charlotte replied.
Twenty minutes later, Sophia made her way down to the lounge on the first floor with Charlotte.
“Hello, Ms. Roth,” June greeted, her voice sweet and delicate as she offered her hand first.
The first time Sophia met June, she felt there was something about her features that reminded her of someone. Now, listening to her speak, Sophia felt that same sense of familiarity.
Charlotte had already looked into June’s background for her. June really was William, the real estate tycoon of Almere’s only daughter. Even though she’d had some work done, she still looked a bit like the little girl in those old photos.
Sophia kept her guard up around June with how advanced cosmetic surgery is these days. You could never be too sure.
Plus, Easton had mentioned that Fletcher’s people had tracked Stella’s last location right at the border between Haverton
and Cadenia.
Since Haverton was basically the mecca for plastic surgery, Sophia couldn’t help but keep doubting June.
Sophia didn’t shake her hand, just nodded slightly. “Miss Jefferson, please, have a seat.”
June wasn’t fazed at all by Sophia’s chilly attitude. She simply sat down with poise and grace, right across from her.
“Miss Jefferson, what brings you to Crestview today?” Sophia asked.
June took a gentle sip of her coffee. “I came by to talk about a business proposal, Ms. Roth. Or should I call you Evan, the design director at Rothea Designs?” she said.
She added, “I saw your work at an exhibition in Almere. You’re an incredibly gifted interior designer. I’m honestly a big fan.”
Sophia smiled softly, her eyes lowered. She explained, “You flatter me, Miss Jefferson. But before reaching out, you might’ verseen the announcement on Rothea Designs’ website.”
She added, “As of yesterday, we’re not taking on any new projects under our company name. Now, every project has to go through Crestview Group’s online review process before we can move forward.”
