539 Chapter 539
539.Chapter 539
June had been “hiding” in Almere for over half a month when she received a call from an employee at the Orpheus Tech flagship store.
“Hmm, it took a bit longer than I expected, but that’s fine. She still showed up,” June said to the manager.
The store manager told her that Ms. Roth wouldn’t let their delivery guy come to her place. She said she’d send someone to pick it up instead.
June sneered. Sophia has been much more cautious these days. There was no way she’d let a stranger into her house so easily.
“It’s fine. It doesn’t change anything. Just stick to the plan. The Foster family will definitely send someone to check things out, too. Even if our delivery guy shows up at her place, it’s not like he could do anything anyway, June said.
“Yes, Miss Jefferson,” the manager replied.
After hanging up, June sat with poise in the garden, sipping her coffee. Just then, a maid rushed over, clearly flustered.
“Miss, Mr. Jefferson’s condition has gotten worse at the hospital,” the maid blurted out.
June calmly set her cup down and ordered, “Let’s go. After waiting so long, I should be there for his final moments myself. Have someone notify Mason.”
“Yes, Miss,” the maid replied.
June dressed head-to-toe in black, with her bodyguards in tow, arrived at Almere’s largest private hospital.
Mason had been waiting for her since early morning. As she approached at a leisurely pace, he reached out and took her hand. “You look gorgeous today.”
June flashed him a sultry smile. “Finally saying goodbye to a troublesome person. I had to dress up for the occasion. And I know you love seeing me like this, don’t you?”
Mason’s eyes smoldered with desire. “Do you know what it is I like about you?”
June nodded. “Because I always do as you say.”
Mason gave her a playful grin.
June and Mason walked into the VIP room. William slowly opened his eyes, barely managing to raise his hand and point at them, visibly emotional.
June stepped up to his bedside. “William, no need to get so agitated. You don’t have much time left. Just say whatever you need to.”
At June’s signal, the attendant by the bed removed his oxygen mask.
William’s voice trembled as he spoke, “Mason, you cold-blooded snake. If it wasn’t for the Jefferson family backing you, do you really think you’d be where you are now?”
Mason lit a cigarette, took a slow drag, and blew out a cloud of smoke, settling into the chair by the bed without care. “You made me this way, William. I’ve always loved June, so much that it hurts. But you wouldn’t let me marry her, and you kept me away from her. So I did whatever it took to make her mine,” he said.
William’s voice was thick with grief and rage, “You made June disappear. Where is she now?” He jabbed a finger at the woman by the bed, “This woman isn’t my daughter. You turned her into a copy of June, just to feed your sick obsession?” “My daughter never loved you. You kept stalking her and scared her so much that she had to flee overseas. When you couldn’t have her, you snatched her, and even found another woman to help you, turning her into June’s double,” William spat.
Mason didn’t deny it. He slipped his arm around the woman’s waist. “Not bad, old man, your mind’s still clear, but too bad, it’ s all too late now. Pretty convincing, right?
“Even her own father can’t tell the difference. Honestly, she’s even better at keeping me happy than your daughter. Do you want to know where your daughter is? Don’t worry, once I yank out your oxygen, you’ll get to see her soon enough.”
William listened to Mason’s words, and his suspicions were confirmed. His daughter was really gone.
