Replacement Bride Left With His Baby (Sophia and Easton) novel Chapter 542

542 Chapter 542

542.Chapter 542

Dexter was half-asleep in a meeting when his phone rang. The moment he saw it was Charlotte, he snapped awake. He bolted out of the room without a word, leaving the board members and shareholders staring after him, totally baffled. He showed up at the location Charlotte sent him in just twenty minutes flat.

He jumped out of the car and hurried over to Charlotte, holding her by the shoulders and scanning her anxiously from head to toe. “Did something happen? Are you alright?” he asked.

Charlotte put a hand on his arm to stop him. “Dexter, I remember now. You were the wounded mercenary from that day, weren’t you?” she explained.

Dexter paused, his gaze deep and unwavering on her. “Yeah, I was.”

Charlotte’s eyes went wide, her voice trembling with excitement, “No way, you’re actually alive! Ever since we got back from Windmere, I’ve been freaking out, thinking something happened to you.”

Dexter smiled and said gently, “I’m alive because you saved me.”

Charlotte blinked, confused. “But you were the one who saved me…”

Dexter shook his head. “Sure, I pulled you out of the way so those dealers wouldn’t get you, but in the end, you were the one who risked everything, charging straight into gunfire to find my teammate.

“I got hit badly. If we hadn’t gotten out of there fast, who knows what kind of mess we’d be in? Plus, I still had a job. If I failed, my boss would’ve had my head. So, it was you who saved me.”

Charlotte was stunned. Back then, she hadn’t really thought much about it. She just knew that mercenary had saved her, and she couldn’t just walk away and let him die. It was a close call, but somehow, they’d all made it out alive.

“Do you know why I came back to Jenston? Not long after I woke up, I tracked you down. I came back not just to help Easton, but also to stop you from marrying Frank,” Dexter said.

Charlotte’s heart was pounding like crazy. She might not have dated before, but she wasn’t clueless. ‘Is Dexter about to confess to me?’ she thought.

And just like that, Dexter took her hand, his eyes sincere as he said, “Charlotte, I like you. I’ve liked you since the very first time we met.” time

At Crestview Group.

Ever since Edward was discharged from the hospital, Sophia had gotten back into her regular routine. After work, she’d either drop by the Roth residence to spend time with Edward or head over to Windmere Estate to keep Irene company.

But no matter what, she always made sure to be back at Silvermoon Bay by ten.

After her shower, Sophia’s favorite thing was to sink into her massage chair for a while. Sometimes, the massage felt so good that she’d drift off to sleep right there without even realizing it.

Easton always video-called Sophia right before bed. “Sophia, why are you still up working? It’s late. You should really get some sleep.”

Sophia gave Easton a gentle smile. “I had three meetings today, and I’m exhausted. I just want to chill in the massage chair for a bit before I crash.”

“I’ll finish up here soon. Promise me you’ll be good at home, okay?” Easton said.

Easton was over in Menolia, but all he could think about was Sophia back home.

“Alright. What about Lucas? Got any fun plans for him today?” Sophia asked.

Easton turned his phone to the beach. “Our little guy is over there, hanging out with the girls.”

Sophia chuckled, “That kid’s got a bright future ahead of him. But if May finds out, she might get mad. She’s always saying Lucas is her godson, and one day, he’ll be her son-in-law.”

Easton turned the camera back to Sophia. “When did you get a massage chair?” he asked.

“Just a few days ago. I got one for Edward, too. Whenever work leaves me exhausted, a quick session in this chair does wonders. Lately, I’ve had trouble sleeping, but every time I use this chair, I drift off almost instantly,” Sophia said.

After chatting for a bit, Sophia hung up the phone.

Maybe it was the massage chair being way too comfy, or maybe she was just totally beat. Either way, her eyes started to droop, and before she knew it, she was out cold.
