545 Chapter 545
545.Chapter 545
Sophia’s insomnia had dragged on for over a week, and it was only getting worse.
She’d lost track of how many times she’d blown up at her team during work hours.
Julian had just returned from Riverdale and was heading up to the top floor when he heard Sophia yelling at someone from the design team.
“Didn’t I already say? The color is all wrong, and the dimensions are off, too. Fix it and send it to me before you leave tonight,” Sophia snapped.
Julian had never seen Sophia this upset before. Normally, even when her team made serious mistakes, she remained patient, calmly pointing out the issues and guiding them on how to fix them. But today, she was completely losing it.
It wasn’t just at work: even growing up, Julian could count on one hand the times he’d seen Sophia lose her temper.
After handing his briefcase to his assistant, Julian knocked on Sophia’s office door.
“Come in, Sophia said.
Julian walked in and saw Sophia drinking water nonstop.
“Sophia, what’s wrong? I saw you really losing your cool out there,” Julian said.
Sophia, feeling seriously irritable, replied, “It’s nothing. The client’s been pushing hard, and my team still hasn’t finished the proposal. It’s just getting to me.”
Julian sat down across from her and said, “But Annie told me something else. You’ve lost your temper with the staff a few times during dinner at home. What’s happened to make you so upset lately?”
Sophia impatiently put down her pen and said, “Seriously, Julian, I’m fine. You just got back, and I’m sure you’ve got plenty on your plate. Go handle your work. I’m heading out anyway.”
Julian glanced at Sophia, then gave her a gentle smile, playing jt cool. He said, “Alright, I’ll get back to work. Have dinner with me at home tonight, okay?”
Sophia nodded and replied, “Sure, I will.”
Julian knew something was definitely off with Sophia, so he called Derrick. He asked, “Can you send me where Sophia’s been lately?”
Derrick sounded confused as he replied, “What’s going on? Did something happen to Sophia?”
Julian explained everything he knew, including what he saw today, in detail.
“Maybe she’s missing her husband? Or maybe work’s just been stressing her out lately?” Derrick suggested.
Julian paused for a moment, then said, “I don’t think that’s it. know Sophia. She never lets anyone get under her skin, much less let it mess with her work.
“I looked at her recent designs, and honestly, they’re just not up to her usual standards at all.”
“Let me show you her recent whereabouts. I’ll be at the office later, and I’ll talk to her then,” Derrick said, sounding worried.
“Don’t bring it up with her yet. We’re all having dinner together tonight. Just watch how she acts and see if anything seems off, Julian replied.
“Alright, I got it,” Derrick said.
Not long after Julian hung up, Derrick sent over Sophia’s location history.
He looked it over: Sophia’s routine seemed totally normal, nothing unusual at all. She hadn’t gone anywhere unfamiliar, just the office, Silvermoon Bay, Windmere Estate, and the Roth residence.
Julian thought, ‘What on earth is going on with her?’
He called Easton and asked, “Still not done with things in Menolia?”
It was nine at night in Menolia, and Easton was still at the office. He replied, “Almost. Are you back in Jenston?”
“Yeah,” Julian replied.
Julian hardly ever called, so Easton immediately got a bad feeling. He thought, ‘Is this about Sophia, or is it Annie?’
“Is it Sophia or Annie? Who’s in trouble?” Easton asked, his voice tense.
Julian picked up his phone and walked over to the window. He said, “Try to finish up your work as soon as you can. I’m worried Sophia might be dealing with depression after the miscarriage. Ever since it happened, she’s been really down.
