548 Chapter 548
548.Chapter 548
Before Easton could say anything, Sophia hugged him tightly. She said, “I thought you left again.”
Easton smiled gently, his voice full of patience as he said, “Of course not. I saw you were about to wake up, so I just went downstairs to get you some milk.”
Sophia nestled into Easton’s embrace, her nose prickling with emotion. Last night’s dreams had felt so real that she couldn’ t even tell dream from reality.
That ache in her chest lingered, refusing to fade even after she woke up.
With his arm around her, Easton led Sophia into the master bedroom. He said, “Good thing I had the staff lay down those soft carpets everywhere. You’re always wandering around barefoot in here.”
After setting the milk down on the table, Easton scooped Sophia up in his arms and carried her back to bed.
He leaned down and kissed her gently. He asked, “Have you been working too hard lately?”
Lately, everyone keeps asking me the same thing. Sophia instinctively touched her face. She said, “No, really? Even you think I look skinnier now?”
Easton held her tight and said, “Yeah, you’ve lost weight. It breaks my heart to see you like this.”
Sophia gave a faint smile and said, “I’m okay, really. Just haven’t been sleeping well lately, and my energy’s been low, so I probably look a little worn out.”
Easton kissed the top of her head and said, “Those medicines, taking too much of that stuff can mess you up. Back then, after our divorce, it was my fault your depression came back. But now, things are better between us, aren’t they? Why do you still need the meds?”
Sophia’s heart skipped a beat. She thought, ‘Crap, I forgot to put the meds back in the drawer after taking them last night. Easton must’ve seen them when he got home.’
She replied, “I’ve been feeling emotionally unstable lately, and I keep having trouble sleeping at night. It happens so often that I get irritable and really down. I’m sorry for making you worry.”
Easton’s voice was gentle. He said, “Promise me you won’t take them anymore, okay?”
Sophia was quiet for a moment, then nodded.
Easton said, “I asked Ryan to bring someone over today. She’ll be here soon to chat with you, a little heart-to-heart. They should arrive in about ten minutes.
“I already called Julian and told him you’re taking a few days off, so just relax at home and rest up. You can head back to work when you’re feeling better.”
Sophia glanced at Easton, a little confused and anxious. She asked, “Ryan’s friend?”
Easton nodded, being completely upfront. He said, “Yeah, she’s actually one of the top therapists in the country. Don’t worry, it’s not about doubting you or anything like that. We just believe in getting real help.
“Maybe after talking with her, you’ll feel a lot better. And hopefully, you won’t need to rely on those meds anymore.”
Sophia had been all over the place emotionally lately, and when Easton first suggested she see a therapist, she felt like she was about to lose it.
But he just kept holding her close, soothing her patiently, and little by little, her mood started to settle down.
Seeing her stay silent and clearly upset, Easton kept his voice gentle, stroking her hair softly. He said, “Sophia, just give it a try, okay? It’s only half an hour, alright?”
Sophia nodded quietly and said, “Okay.”
After a quick wash-up, Sophia changed into some comfy loungewear. Right on time, Ryan and the therapist showed up at Silvermoon Bay.
“Easton, Sophia, this is my friend, Nora Garrison,” Ryan said, introducing her.
“Nice to meet you, Dr. Garrison,” Sophia said, shaking her hand.
They didn’t waste any time. After the quick introductions, Sophia led Nora into the study.
“Ms. Roth, no need to be so formal. Just sit wherever you feel most comfortable, and we’ll take our time,” Nora said with a
warm smile.
Sophia nodded and walked over to the massage chair.
