Charlotte smiled at June and said, “Alright, let’s go.”

June smiled back.

Once dinner got underway, Charlotte and Dexter both noticed that every plate, glass, or napkin June used had a servant hovering nearby, ready to whisk it away.

Seeing how careful they were, Charlotte thought, ‘Getting close enough to grab a sample is gonna be a real challenge.

Dexter squeezed her hand, signaling her not to worry; there’d be an opening eventually.

Mason was chatting with Arthur, but he kept sneaking glances at June. Seeing how cautious her attendants were, he finally let his guard down a bit.

When Charlotte saw June heading for the restroom, she quickly made up an excuse and followed after her.

Trailing behind June and her servant, Charlotte said, “June, you look amazing. Do you work out a lot?”

June was just as proud of her body as she was of her looks.

After all, she’d put a lot of effort into it back in Haverton. She smiled and said, “Honestly, I’m kind of lazy, but I just watch what I eat, so I stay in shape.”

Once June headed into the restroom, Charlotte pretended she needed to go as well.

When Charlotte came out, she spotted June washing her hands. Sensing her chance, Charlotte faked a stumble and ended up bumping into June, managing to snag a few strands of her hair in the process.

The servant quickly steadied June and pushed Charlotte aside, eyeing her suspiciously.

June felt a surge of anger, but since Charlotte was Mason’s cousin, she forced herself to stay calm.

Charlotte seized the moment and slipped the hair into her pocket before anyone noticed.

“Sorry about that, cousin-in-law. I totally missed the water on the floor and just slipped. Hope I didn’t bump into you too hard,” Charlotte said.

June and the servant followed Charlotte’s gaze to the puddle on the floor, and didn’t think anything of it.

June’s expression softened right away, and she smiled warmly. She said, “No worries, as long as you’re okay.”

The three of them headed back to the private room, and Charlotte slid into her seat next to Dexter. She said, ” Dexter, I almost slipped on some water in the restroom and nearly crashed into June.”

Mason looked concerned and asked June with care, “Are you sure you’re okay?”

June just shook her head and said, “I’m fine.”

Dexter could tell Charlotte was hinting at something. He asked, “And you? Did you hurt yourself?”

Charlotte nodded and said, “I think I twisted my ankle. It’s kind of sore now that I’m sitting down.”

Dexter put on a worried face as he said, “Let me take you to the hospital right now. Better safe than sorry with these kinds of injuries.”

He turned to Arthur, Mason, and June. He said, “Sorry, but we’ll probably need to duck out and get this checked.” Arthur, who always thought Charlotte was a bit scatterbrained, grumbled, “Just go already. Mason and I will have dinner and chat.”

Charlotte pretended to be concerned. She said, “But Grandpa, how are you heading back?”

Mason jumped in, “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Grandpa Arthur gets back to the hotel tonight.”

After that, Dexter carried Charlotte in his arms and left the private room.

June watched the two of them leave, and the more she looked, the weirder it felt. She reached up and touched her hair, and out of nowhere, a sudden thought struck her.

Mason’s face went pale in an instant, and he shouted for the bodyguards outside.

When the bodyguards rushed in, Mason dropped his voice as he ordered, “Follow Dexter and Charlotte. Don’t let them out of your sight.”
