77 Chapter 77
77.Chapter 77
With Sophia still unconscious, Stella quietly slipped out of her own car, made her way over to Sophia’s, and opened the passenger door. She quickly disabled the dashcam, grabbed Sophia’s phone from her bag, and tossed it down the embankment below the highway.
After finishing all that, Stella put on an act-climbing back into her own car and collapsing over the steering wheel, pretending to be hurt.
The traffic cops and paramedics showed up fast, rushing over to Sophia. “Miss, wake up! Can you hear me?” one of them called out.
Sophia’s head throbbed with pain as she blinked her eyes open, barely conscious and completely out of it. “Miss, are you alright? We’re doctors. Can you tell us where it hurts?” the doctor asked, leaning in close. Sophia croaked out, “My head’s killing me… I’m so dizzy. I don’t really feel anything else right now.” The doctor nodded, and then, with help from the police, they carefully got Sophia out of the car without any trouble.
When Easton arrived at the scene, he rushed straight to Sophia, clasped her shoulders tightly, and asked with concern, “Are you alright? Did you get hurt anywhere?”
Raindrops fell on her face, blurring her vision and making it difficult for Sophia to make out Easton’s expression. As the lights around them grew brighter, she finally saw just how worried and anxious Easton looked.
Sophia shook her head. “I’m fine.”
The moment Easton saw Sophia, he felt an almost irresistible urge to pull her into his arms. God knew how frantic he’d been on the way over, telling Gordon to drive faster the whole time.
“Sophia, are you okay?” Julian had just arrived, hopped out of his car, and rushed straight to her side.
When Sophia saw Julian, her nose tingled and her eyes threatened to tear up. She just collapsed right into his arms, letting him hold her tight.
“Don’t worry. I’m here now. You’re safe,” Julian reassured her softly as he hugged her close.
Julian’s heart twisted in worry for Sophia. Glaring at Easton, his tone sharp and clearly unhappy, he demanded, “Easton, what the hell happened out here?”
Just as Easton was about to answer, Stella was led over by the cops. The moment she caught sight of Easton, she looked devastated, eyes welling up as she practically collapsed into his arms, tears streaming down her cheeks before she could say a word.
“Easton, I was so scared! The car was going way too fast, and it was pouring rain. Everything felt out of control. Suddenly, I got rear-ended and crashed right into the guardrail.
“When I finally got out, I realized it was Ms. Roth’s car involved, too. Isn’t that just unbelievable?” Stella whimpered, voice shaky like she was seconds from breaking down.
Julian’s face went dark as soon as he saw Stella. “Ms. Weston, are you actually saying Sophia crashed into you on purpose? That she hurt herself just to make it look good?”
Easton’s eyes flickered with something hard to read. He frowned, and his voice was icy. “Stella, let the police sort out what really happened before we say anything. Don’t make wild accusations.”
Stella was taken aback. She never expected Easton to speak to her with that reproachful tone right in front of Sophia. For a second, she couldn’t believe he would call her out like that.
She put on a trembling, fragile voice, trying her best to look all pitiful. “I never said that, Easton. It just all feels like such a strange coincidence, that’s all.”
Sophia snorted, her voice laced with sarcasm. “Yeah, isn’t that too much of a coincidence? I bumped into you in the hotel parking lot earlier, and now there’s a crash on the highway. Makes you wonder whether it’s bad

luck… or if someone planned it.”
Stella’s face turned white as a sheet the moment she heard that.
