Replacement Bride Left With His Baby (Sophia and Easton) novel Chapter 93

93 Chapter 93

93.Chapter 93

Sophia instinctively reached for Emily’s hand, pulling her close and making sure nobody could get near her.

Emily looked up and, out of the corner of her eye, saw those two men. She went pale as a sheet and clung to Sophia.

She whispered, “Sophia, let’s go. I don’t want to stay here.”

Sophia nodded.

Just as Sophia, May, and Emily were about to leave, Nicolas piped up behind them.

He yelled, “I’ve already said I didn’t do it! The evidence will come out soon enough. Honestly, maybe she was willing. That secretary could just be crying rape because she didn’t get paid off.”

Sophia did her best to hold it together, but his arrogance was just infuriating. She whipped around and slapped him squarely across the face.

She said, “Nicolas, whether you did it or not, the whole world will know soon. Once the hospital runs its tests and the police review the surveillance footage, you won’t be able to worm your way out of anything.”

Nicolas narrowed his eyes at her, rubbing his cheek where she’d hit him, and gave a sly smile.

He said, “Go ahead, wait all you want. But this slap really struck a chord. Sophia, you’re breathtaking when you’ re pissed off.”

With that, he swaggered away with his lawyer in tow. George and Catherine trailed after him.

Stella was the last one left in the hallway, facing Sophia and the other two.

She let out a mocking laugh and said, “Sophia, maybe you should keep your people on a tighter leash. Stop letting your girls run around flirting with men-just like you, always causing trouble wherever you go.

“Sure, Nicolas is an asshole, but he was not so desperate that he’d sleep with just anyone. Maybe your little secretary saw a chance at his money, tried to extort him, and when that didn’t work, cried assault instead.”

May had kept her rage bottled up the whole night-from sitting in the interrogation room, listening to Emily describe what happened, to seeing Nicolas just walk out of the police station without a care in the world.

She was totally at her limit, and the second she heard Stella running her mouth, there was no way she could swallow her anger anymore.

May marched over, grabbed Stella by the collar, and slammed her against the wall.

“May, are you out of your mind? This is a police station, and you’re a lawyer!” Stella snapped.

Easton walked in with the police chief, already briefed on the whole situation. When he heard the victim wasn’t Sophia, he finally let out a sigh of relief, the tension melting from his face.

But the instant he entered, he was shocked to see May had Stella pinned to the wall, her fist raised, about to strike.

He quickly stepped in and pulled Stella away. He said, “Guys, calm down. This has nothing to do with Stella. Don’t go lashing out at her just because of what Nicolas did.”

Easton said this without taking his eyes off Sophia for even a second.

Sophia, face icy and unmoved, stepped forward, brushed May aside with a quiet motion, and stopped right in front of Easton-only to realize he’d positioned himself like a shield between her and Stella.

Sophia gave a mocking, cold laugh. “Wow, Easton. You’re here just in time.”

Stella, ever the drama queen, instantly started complaining, “Easton, Sophia and her friends have really crossed the line-”

Easton cut her off sharply, “Stop talking and leave, now.”

Bitterness flashed across Stella’s eyes, but she swallowed her resentment and stalked off without another word.

93.Chapter 93

Sophia said, “Easton, after all the disgusting things Nicolas did to Emily, you’re still running interference for Stella and her whole family? You honestly have zero shame, do you?”

Easton knitted his brows, but his tone remained gentle. “Sophia, the police have already gathered conclusive evidence. They’ll clarify exactly what happened soon.”

Just then, Julian showed up. He’d just finished talking with the head of investigations upstairs. He and Easton exchanged a brief nod, greeting each other without a word.

Julian said, “Sophia, standing around here isn’t a good idea, and it’s getting really late. Emily really shouldn’t stay here any longer. Let’s take her home first.”
