May started the car and kept a safe distance, tailing them from afar.

Sophia said, “May, I heard from Frank that Nicolas has connections with some shady people. Once we get a sense of where he’s going, let’s not get any closer. These guys play dirty, and we need to keep ourselves safe if we want to help Emily.”

May nodded. “Sure.”

They tailed Nicolas’s car all the way to some private villa. As soon as he stepped out, a woman who looked like she belonged in a trashy nightclub came strutting out and immediately pressed herself all over him, her chest practically glued to his.

“Ugh. Seriously, in broad daylight? Some people have no shame,” May muttered, her nose wrinkling in disgust. Sophia snapped a few pictures of the place and shot them over to that guy with a quick text: [See if this villa belongs to Nicolas. If it checks out, the videos are probably stashed on a computer inside.]

She also sent the guy the location of the Weston residence and Weston Group, but deep down, she was sure Nicolas would never keep those videos at any Weston family property.

His only real option was to stash those videos somewhere no one else could get to-a private place outside the family property.

May parked in a spot so well-hidden that they had a clear view of everything happening around the villa, but no one outside could spot their car.

“Sophia, do you think the police might be here, too? That car over there-I saw it at Weston Group earlier, and now it’s parked here as well,” May whispered.

Sophia mulled it over for a bit. “Yeah, that’s possible. Julian’s been pushing them hard, making sure they investigate this whole thing all the way.”

May got the idea and just shrugged it off, not letting it bother her.

Not long after May and Sophia left, Easton got a phone call.

“Mr. Foster, we just tailed Nicolas’s car out to a private villa in the suburbs. I’ve already got someone looking into whether it’s under his name, and I’ll arrange for our guys to install some pinhole cameras inside,” someone reported.

Standing by the window, hand in pocket, Easton said in a low and steady voice, “Keep a tight watch. I want real evidence. Make sure you get everything on tape-everyone he meets, everything he says.

“If he even mentions what happened that night, send the audio and video files anonymously to May Young at Brightway Law Firm.”

“Yes, sir,” came the reply.

After hanging up, Easton stood by the window, eyes locked on the street below Foster Group. He didn’t move a muscle-just let himself get swallowed up by his own thoughts.

Ever since that night at the police station, Stella hadn’t heard a word from Easton. Every time she called, he never picked up.

He just had Gordon relay that he was ‘pretty busy lately’, and if there was anything urgent, she should go through Gordon, who would ‘make sure it got sorted’.

Stella couldn’t help but feel uneasy. She wondered, ‘Why is Easton dodging me on purpose?’

And ever since Sophia came back to town, Easton hadn’t invited Stella to a single party-no matter how big or small. Just remembering it made Stella clench her teeth in irritation.

Stella had barely stepped into the TV station that morning when her phone lit up with a call. It was Nicolas again.

She answered, barely concealing her impatience. “What?”

“Stella, my computer just got hacked. Somebody stole the videos. Do whatever you can to stall the police,” Nicolas snapped.
