The second the words left her mouth, Sophia realized she’d sounded too desperate. She tried to pivot.
“What I meant was… Mom and Dad worked so hard to raise me. I have to stay and pay them back for everything they’ve done.”
Her ‘devoted‘ act, paired with her watery eyes, had Eudora–who just walked downstairs–nearly in tears.
“My Sophia is so loyal! We’d never send you back to that dumpy village. You’ll always be a Bennett.”
Eudora hugged Sophia, and the two of them put on a touching display of mother–daughter bonding.
Amelia felt like she was going to lose her breakfast.
“If you’re so intent on ‘repaying‘ them, why don’t you start by making breakfast every morning?”
Amelia flashed a grin, showing off her cute canines as she stared Sophia down.
The smile didn’t reach her eyes, and Sophia felt a chill crawl down her spine.
“Mom, I’m a terrible cook,” Sophia stammered.
No way am I stepping into that greasy, stinking kitchen. I hate getting my hands dirty!
She was about to start whining when Amelia cut her off with a mocking drawl, “Oh, please. Anyone can learn if they actually care. Unless you were lying just now and you just can’t give up the designer lifestyle?”
“I am not!” Sophia barked.
“Then prove it. Why won’t you learn?”
Amelia kept pushing until Sophia, blinded by rage and pride, snapped and agreed.
“Fine! Starting today, I’m making breakfast for Mom and Dad!”
With that, Sophia stormed into the kitchen and ordered the staff to teach her how to fry an egg.
As long as I keep Mom and Dad happy, I’m the only daughter that matters!
But she’d overestimated her skills. The second the oil popped, she was screaming like she’d been stabbed, her face and hands getting tiny blisters.
Amelia enjoyed the ‘dinner theater‘ for a while before heading off to school.
On campus, the only thing anyone was talking about was yesterday’s viral scandal.
“Did you see it? Sophia was literally covered in dog crap! I have the photos!”
“No way, let me see!”
The students were having a field day at Sophia’s expense.

Chapter 107 The Acadernic Queen
Finished
The school forum was flooded with clips and photos. It was the talk of the town.
When Sophia saw the posts, she spent a fortune trying to get them deleted, but the damage was done. Everywhere she walked, the mocking stares made her skin crawl.
By the afternoon, the exam rankings were posted. Sophia’s name was in the top ten, and she let out a smug sigh.
Best ten million I ever spent!
She started looking at the bottom of the list for Amelia’s name, but then a girl nearby let out a shocked
scream.
“Amelia got first place in the whole school!”
Sophia froze. She looked up at the very top of the list, and there it was in bold letters: Amelia Bennett.
Amelia… is number one?!
Amelia had a perfect score in STEM and had only lost two points in Humanities. Her total was fifty points higher than Glenn Sterling, who was in second place.
“Are you kidding me? She used to fail every class! There’s no way she’s first!”
Sophia was fuming, convinced it was a system error.
“Wow, first place. Glenn really dropped the ball, huh? Losing to me by fifty points,” Amelia said, appearing right next to Sophia.
Her voice was full of mock disappointment.
I actually held back on the Humanities paper just to give Glenn a chance at a tie, but the kid is apparently a slacker.
“Amelia, you used to be at the bottom of every list. How did you suddenly get first place? You didn’t hire a pro to take it for you, did you?”
Sophia didn’t even hesitate. she accused Amelia of cheating right in front of the crowd, drawing everyone’s
attention.
