The whole Sterling mansion was buzzing with scandal after word got out that Sophia and Matthew had snuck off to the lounge for a steamy hookup.
Vanessa’s birthday bash was completely ruined, and she was furious. She stormed straight up to Amelia and snapped, “You did this on purpose, didn’t you? You wrecked my party!”
Before Amelia could even turn around, Vanessa’s hand was flying toward her face.
Pure reflex–Amelia kicked her square in the gut.
Vanessa went flying backward and crashed hard onto the marble floor, groaning in pain.
“Amelia just attacked my aunt! Somebody help–she’s trying to kill her!” Chloe screamed at the top of her lungs, calling out toward the main house.
Jonathan had finally calmed down the big–shot politicians and CEOS and was about to escort them out when he walked right into the chaos.
He roared, “Who the hell just put their hands on my wife?!”
Chloe immediately pointed at Amelia and poured on the lies: “It was her, Jonathan! She ruined Vanessa’s party and then attacked her–I saw the whole thing!”
Vanessa, now being helped up, dabbed at fake tears and whimpered, “Jonathan, she’s Sebastian’s fiancée… maybe it was an accident. Don’t be too hard on her.”
Chloe jumped in again, “Vanessa, she literally hit you!”
“Enough!” Vanessa pretended to scold her. “She’s Sebastian’s fiancée. If she slapped me, I would take it. Let’s drop it.”
Amelia watched the whole act and thought, “Wow–Vanessa’s even better at playing the victim than I remembered.”
The second Jonathan heard “Sebastian’s fiancée,” his eyelid twitched hard.
He’d heard the rumors about Amelia–the country girl they’d dragged back from nowhere, probably never even finished elementary school. In the Kingsley circle, he was basically trash, totally unworthy of becoming a Sterling daughter–in–law.
“Hmph! I never approved that engagement in the first place,” he snarled. “Chloe, go slap her. Show her the Sterling family isn’t a place she can run wild!”
“Yes, Jonathan!”
Chloe rubbed her hands together, practically salivating she’d finally get payback for that earlier slap,
Amelia just stood there, cool as ice, and said in a lazy drawl, “This is a country with laws, folks. You really wanna try me?”
Chloe’s hand froze mid–air, scared stiff by Amelia’s icy sare,
Jonathan’s face turned beet red–he’d just been publicly humiliated. “Security! Pin this crazy woman down! I’ll teach her who runs things in this house!”

One of them lunged to grab her. Amelia sidestepped. There was a sickening crack–and his arm popped right out of its socket.
The guy screamed in agony, clutching his limp arm.
The rest of the burly guards froze. They’d just watched tiny woman in a tight dress and sky–high heels disarm a huge bodyguard like it was nothing.
They all backed up, suddenly not so eager to get closer.
Vanessa shrieked and hid behind Jonathan, shaking. “Honey, I’m scared!”
If she had been the one to piss Amelia off, that broken arm could’ve been hers.
Chloe’s face went ghost–white as she stumbled backward. “You… you can’t be Amelia. This isn’t possible…”
The Amelia she knew was a timid pushover who never talked back and took every beating in silence.
Amelia rolled her wrists casually, her red lips curving into a smirk. “Haven’t thrown down in a while. Anyone else wanna try?”
Jonathan looked like he’d swallowed a lemon. The other guests were staring at Amelia with brand–new eyes.
