Sophia’s legs turned to jelly and she collapsed, her elbow scraping against the pavement until it bled.

Sebastian didn’t even blink; he marched straight to Amelia, his gaze turning jarred and gentle. “So, you really took first place?”

Amelia puffed out her chest, looking like a total show–off. “You bet. I’m a certified genius.”

Then she pouted, putting on a show of distress. “But the Principal doesn’t believe me, Sebastian. He called me a fraud. I’m so ‘hurt“!”

“A fraud?” Sebastian pulled off his gold–rimmed glasses, his dark eyes turning lethal as he stared at Fabian’s balding head. “Fabian Evans, you’re accusing my fiancé of cheating. You got receipts?”

Fabian broke into a cold sweat at being called out, nodding and then frantically shaking his head. “Well, the evidence…”

“He’s got zero evidence because he and Sophia are just framing me!” Amelia crossed her arms and sneered.

“That’s a lie!” Sophia cried out, her voice thin and desperate.

“Since everyone’s got a different story, why not have Amelia retake the test right here to prove she’s the real deal?”

Glenn stepped forward, looking ready to throw down. “Seb, I took second in this exam, and I’ll bet my life that Amelia’s score is legit.”

Sebastian narrowed his dangerous eyes, a sharp smirk tugging at his lips. “What do you think, Fabian?”

Fabian looked up and caught that smile–the kind of look that makes your blood turn to ice.

In Kingsley, they say it’s better to have the Shadow King pissed at you than to see him smiling.

Sebastian never smiled, and those who saw it usually ended up six feet under.

Fabian’s knees were practically water. “Whatever you say, Mr. Sterling. Your word is law.”

Damn that Sophia girl for dragging me into this mess!

“Since the valedictorian says Amelia is clean, get a fresh exam and have her do it again. You cool with that, Fabian?”

Sebastian unbuttoned his blazer and sat right in the Principal’s high–backed chair, his raw power making every Dean and Director in the room scramble to get out of his way.

No one wanted to be in the splash zone when he lost his temper; they could barely breathe.

Fabian scrambled up and barked at Ronald, “Well?! Get the exam ready! Don’t just stand there like a

statue!”

Ronald’s usual sour face crumbled under the pressure, and he hurried off to fetch the papers, looking like he was on the verge of a breakdown.

Ryan signaled the bodyguards to set up a desk and chair, giving Amelia a respectful nod. “Miss Amelia, please take a seat.”

Amelia nodded. As she passed Sebastian, he caught her wrist, his voice surprisingly gentle. “You got this?”

“Trust me.”

Her confident grin made him slowly let go.

Right. I should never doubt her.

Once she was seated, Ryan handed the mic to Fabian. “Talk.”

Fabian wasn’t an idiot; he took the mic and addressed the hall. “Since there’s been some ‘doubt‘ about Amelia Bennett’s first–place score, the administration is conducting a live re–test!”

“Principal Evans, I also have some doubts about Sophia’s score. I think she needs to prove her innocence right alongside me.”

Amelia shouted over the mic, looking like she was loving the chaos; the students erupted into whispers.

Fabian had no choice. He took the mic back and sighed, “Fine. Amelia and Sophia will retake the test together!”

Sophia felt her blood turn to ice. She ran to Fabian and whispered frantically, “Principal Evans! You took my money! If I can’t answer these, everyone will know I’m the fraud!”

Her reputation as the “Genius of Kingsley” couldn’t end like this!

Fabian shoved her away. “You should have thought about the consequences before you lied to me! If you breathe a word about that money, I’ll find a way to end you!”

Sophia glared at him, trapped and helpless.

“Hey, Sophia! You were so sure my grades were fake. Come on, let’s retake it together!”

Amelia laughed, waving her over with a smirk.
