Chapter 114 The Guardian

But times had changed. William, the Chairman of the Bennett Group, didn’t have the leverage he used to.
Alexander stood up and smoothed out his suit. “Dad, the world moved on while you weren’t looking. You don’t have the final say in the company anymore.”
William froze. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
“It means,” Alexander said, standing his ground, “that I’m not letting you bully Amelia ever again.”
He felt the family was rotting from the inside, blinded by Sophia’s lies. He was ready to walk.
As he turned to leave, a black Bentley pulled into the driveway.
Sebastian’s tall frame emerged from the car. He walked around to the other side and personally opened the door for Amelia.
Everyone in the living room watched in shock. Sebastian Sterling was acting like a chauffeur for her?
Lucas actually pinched his own face.
“Ow!” Okay, so I’m not dreaming.
Sophia had the biggest reaction. If Amelia hadn’t come back, if she hadn’t stolen my spot, that should be me! Sebastian should be opening that door for me!
She has to go.
The couple walked through the front door. Amelia scanned the room and the bodyguards. “Wow, everyone’s waiting for me? This looks like a trial. Am I being interrogated?”
Sebastian had his blazer draped over his shoulder as he strolled in. He sat on the sofa like he owned the place, crossing his legs with the casual grace of a king.
Amelia watched him act like he was in his own living room and bit her lip to keep from laughing.
Sebastian, at least pretend to be a guest.
“Mr. Sterling, what a surprise! You should have told us you were coming!”
William did a complete 180, his face melting into a fawning, oily smile. He couldn’t afford to cross Sebastian.
“Get some coffee for Mr. Sterling! Now!” William barked at a maid.
William sat opposite Sebastian, leaning in eagerly. “To what do we owe the honor, sir?”
Sebastian narrowed his eyes and pointed toward Amelia. “Just a drop–off.”
William was momentarily speechless. “My daughter can be so thoughtless… making a busy man like you drive her home.”

Chapter 114 The Guardian
William shot Amelia a lethal glare.

She did this on purpose. She knew she was in trouble for what happened at school, so she dragged him here as a shield.
A maid walked over, trembling, and set a cup down. “Your tea, Mr. Sterling.”
“Try the beans, sir. It’s fresh,” William offered.
He figured even someone like Sebastian would play along for a cup of tea.
But Sebastian wasn’t there for small talk. He looked at the cup, then stood up abruptly. “I’m only here to say one thing to the Bennett family.”
“Amelia is my fiancé. That is non–negotiable. Do we have an understanding?”
He wasn’t asking for permission. He was issuing a decree.
William’s face turned an ugly shade of gray. “Mr. Sterling, of course! She’s our daughter! Why would we mistreat her?”
“You better remember that.”
Touch her again, and I’ll see how much the Bennett name is worth on the market.
The Bennetts took the hint. Not a single person dared to speak up.
Sebastian walked over to Amelia, his expression turning soft. “Get some rest.”
Amelia nodded like a good girl. “You too, Sebastian.”
Hehe. I bet Sophia’s head is about to explode right now.
The second Sebastian was gone, Sophia lost it. She started wailing like the world was ending.
“Amelia, why do you keep doing this to me? Why do you hate me so much? What did I ever do to you?”
The king is gone, so the white lotus is back in bloom? Typical.
