16 The Drama Queen Act
Sophia spoke with such a tremor of terror that it made Amelia sound like a total monster.
Finished
Eudora felt like Sophia’s tone was off, but she couldn’t put her finger on why; Amelia had been late, but Sebastian had dropped her off.
For the past few days, Sebastian had been personally chauffeuring Amelia, acting like he was worried she’d be bullied at home.
“Sophia, you know slander is a crime, right? Guess you haven’t learned your lesson yet.”
Amelia was standing at the top of the stairs; she’d been there for a while, catching every word of that conversation.
This girl really couldn’t go five minutes without spreading a new rumor.
“Amelia! When did you get down here?” Sophia gasped, her heart skipping a beat.
“If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have heard you talking trash about Sebastian. Everyone in this house saw him drop me off last night, yet you’re calling him ‘shady‘?”
Every head in the room turned to Amelia; she was dressed casually in a simple white sundress, her hair loose and her face fresh and makeup–free.
Ever since seeing her at the gala, Nydia Harrington had grown increasingly fond of the girl, especially after hearing she’d cured her father–in–law, Edward.
Nydia had mentioned Amelia to her son, Cyrus, several times; Cyrus was still cold, but a mother knows— he was definitely interested.
If the Sterling wedding fell through, the Harringtons were ready to swoop in and take her for themselves.
“Amelia, honey! Remember me? I’m Cyrus’s mom. I still haven’t thanked you properly for saving my father–in–law.”
Amelia wasn’t interested in Cyrus; she just gave a polite nod. “Mrs. Harrington, give me a second to handle my own business first.”
With that, Amelia marched right up to Sophia, refusing to let the insult slide in front of all these witnesses.
“Come on, Sophia. Tell everyone the name of this ‘lover‘ I was supposedly with.”
The guests stopped talking, their eyes burning into Sophia; the girl felt like she was being grilled on a spit.
She’d just been running her mouth; she didn’t expect Amelia to be lurking behind her, demanding a name in front of the elite.
“What, cat got your tongue? You keep dragging my name and Sebastian’s through the mud. It’s pathetic.”
Amelia sneered, slowly pacing around her. “Ever since I got back, you’ve been trying to set me up. What did I ever do to you?”

Chapter 116 The Drama Queen Act
Finished
Amelia let out a shaky breath, forcing two fake tears to well up in her eyes.
Two can play the “drama queen” game, Sophia. Let’s see how you handle this.
Sophia usually loved playing the victim, but today, Amelia was beating her at her own game.
“Honestly, Eudora is something else. Her real daughter comes home and she lets the adopted one bully her like this?”
“I heard about that fake blindness stunt Sophia pulled last month. The girl is a total snake.”
“I guess you can’t wash out bad blood. No matter how much money they spend on her, she’s still just a spiteful brat. My kids are staying away from her.”
The crowd, which usually kissed Sophia’s *ss, was now tearing her apart to stay on the “right” side of the drama.
“Mom, tell them! Tell them I’m not like that! I would never hurt Amelia!”
Sophia grabbed Eudora’s arm, sobbing quietly and looking like her world was ending.
Eudora had always spoiled Sophia; she couldn’t stand seeing her favorite child being humiliated like this.
“Amelia! It’s my birthday! Do you have to ruin everything right now?”
Amelia just gave her a sweet, sharp smile. “Sophia just insulted Sebastian Sterling’s reputation. You’re worried about your party instead of her mouth?
