Chapter 127 The Great Escape

Finished

They still had a babysitter watching them, and even if they slipped the ropes, there was no way two girls were taking down a guy that jacked.

Trust me. Help me with these ropes, and I’m getting us out of here.”

Amelia’s confident smirk gave Yara a tiny spark of hope. Okay. I’m in.

Amelia closed her eyes, pretending to be out cold to keep the guard bored, while Yara leaned against her, sawing the ropes against a sharp edge.

Finally, the cord snapped. Amelia leaned in close to Yara’s ear. Lure him over. I’ll handle the rest.”

As she spoke, Amelia palmed a heavy stone she’d found on the floor.

Yara nodded, letting out a series of suggestive, pained moans. Ughit hurtssomeonehelp me

Yara’s face was beet red as she struck a vulnerable pose. The guard’s lizard brain took over, and he walked over, rubbing his hands together.

What’s wrong, baby? Let daddy take a look.

The second he leaned down, Amelia swung the stone with everything she had, catching him right in the back of the head.

Thud!

The guy went down like a sack of potatoes, out cold.

Amelia scrambled to untie Yara, who suddenly broke into silent, racking sobs,

She hadn’t cried once while being attacked, but now that she was safe, the dam finally broke.

No time for tears. You can cry all you want once we’re clear of this place.

It wasn’t that Amelia was cold; she knew they were on a clock. Derek would be back any minute, and they needed to move.

She stripped the guard’s jacket to cover Yara, and they sprinted out of the warehouse.

Once outside, they realized they were on a sheer cliffside. Below them, the Atlantic was a churning mess of white water. There was only one road down.

They were miles from the city, and the only other building in sight was a massive, decaying factory.

Oh godthey’re back!

Yara went pale, pointing at a pair of headlights racing up the mountain road. It was Sophia’s carthey’d caught her.

It’s over. My lite is over.

Yara’s legs gave out, and she slumped onto the gravel, her eyes full of despair.

Amelia gritted her teeth and hauled the girl up, dragging her toward the dark silhouette of the factory. Move! We hide in there!

They couldn’t fight them in the open, and she didn’t know if Derek had a piece on him. Taking cover was their only shot.

The girls vanished into the factory just as Derek and the thugs pulled up to the warehouse.

Sophia was hauled out of the car, her designer look a total wreck. Her hat and shades were gone, her hair was a bird’s nest, and she was screaming like a banshee. You’re a dead man, Derek! My brothers are gonna kill you!

Derek’s hand roamed over her aggressively. By the time they find this place, I’ll be long gone, and you’ll be trash. Hahaha!

I gave you the cash! I gave you two girls! Why the hell are you grabbing me?Sophia was acting tough, but she was vibrating with fear.

Derek! The strays are gone! One of the thugs came running out of the warehouse, shouting.

Dammit! Those b*tches think they can run?Derek spat, tossing Sophia to a lackey. Watch her. The rest of you, hit the factory. There’s nowhere else to go!

Amelia knew Yara was too weak to run, so she tucked her into an empty oil drum in the darkest corner of the floor.

She found a heavy prybar and melted into the shadows, waiting for the wolves to enter.

The factory was a fortress of concrete and steel, perched between the cliffs and the sea. The only exit was the road Derek was currently blocking.

These idiots hadn’t picked this place to hide; they’d picked it to make a final stand against Sebastian.

Back at the Sterling Group HQ, in Kingsley.

Ryan burst into the office, his face pale as he clutched a tablet. Sir, we got a ping, Sophia’s car hit a plate reader heading toward Black Ridge half an hour ago. She hasn’t come back. We think she’s with Derek.”
