Truushed

Sophia was reaping what she’d sown. Amelia had no intention of saving her, even if she could.

Derek kicked Sophia, tearing her red dress into rags. Hahaha! Your sister’s leaving you to rot! When I catch her, I’ll let you both watch each other suffer!

What about Yara? Just take her instead!Sophia was throwing anyone under the bus to save herself. She looked around frantically, but Yara was nowhere to be seen.

Yara made the mistake of shifting, a tiny sound echoing from the oil drum. Derek’s head snapped toward

  1. it.

He signaled his man. They kicked over the drum, dragging a trembling Yara out by her hair.

Agh! Let go of me, you bastards!Yara fought back, but a brutal backhand from Derek sent her spinning. Stay down!

Amelia! I’ve got two lives in my hands now. Come out, or they both die!

Derek pinned them both to the floor, his gun moving between their heads.

Amelia closed her eyes and took a steadying breath. The drug was clawing at her mind again; she was losing the fight for control.

But if she stayed hidden. Yara was dead.

She looked up and saw a massive smelting furnace suspended by heavy chains directly over Derek’s head. A plan formed.

Fine. I’m coming down.

Amelia was ready to surrender, but Yara screamed, No, Amelia! Don’t do it! You can get away! Just leave me!

She lunged forward and bit Derek’s wrist with everything she had.

You little b*tch!Derek screamed, backhanding Yara so hard she hit the concrete and went limp.

Stop!

Amelia stood on the catwalk, her arm dripping blood, her face a mask of cold fury. I’m here. Let her go.

Yara’s world was spinning; she saw Amelia’s silhouette before passing out.

Derek’s eyes lit up with a sick kind of triumph. Down! Get your *ss down here and get on your knees!

Amelia slowly walked down the stairs. When she reached the floor, she stopped and gave him a faint, haunting sinile.

You want me? Come and get me.

Derek froze. Is she actually hitting on me?

bibed

Amelia began to pull at the collar of her dress, exposing her collarbones. Her face was flushed deep red from the drug, and her eyes were hazy. Derek felt his throat go dry as he stared.

DamnI knew you’d be a wild one once you let loose!

Derek walked forward, reaching out for her skin. Just as his hand was inches away, Amelia’s eyes cleared- she lunged, grabbing for the gun.

You b*tch! You were faking it!

Derek wasn’t a total amateur. He tried to kick her, but she took the hit to the ribs and delivered a brutal elbow to his chest that made him wheeze.

Agh!

The drug was at its peak now. Amelia’s vision was swimming; her strength was a fading ember.

Bang!

In the struggle, the gun went off, the bullet screaming upward.

It hit the support link for the furnace chain. The metal groaned, then snapped with a sound like a thunderclap.

Derek, look out!

Agh!

CRASH!

The massive furnace slammed into the concrete, sending a shockwave and a cloud of debris through the factory.

The impact threw Amelia backward. Her head hit the floor, and her world turned into a roar of static. Everything was a blur,

The heat was unbearable. It felt like she was trapped inside the furnace itself. I need something cold. Anything cold.

She started clawing at her clothes, her mind completely gone to the fever of the drug.

Ugh!

Someone grabbed her hair, pulling her head back. It was Derekhe’d survived the crash. No more games. I’m done being patient!

Amelia tried to fight. but her arms felt like lead.

She was a lamb at the slaughter.

Covered in blood and losing the fight to stay awake, she felt the darkness closing in.
