Chapter 138 The HIV Scare
Amelia just stood there, looking at him with total disbelief etched on her face.
Suddenly, Lucas gritted his teeth and started slapping his own face.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
The hits were fast and hard. The maids stood there with their mouths hanging open, completely stunned.
Is Lucas having a psychotic break? Is he actually hitting himself for her?
After several strikes, Lucas gave her a pathetic, hopeful smile. “Amelia, if that doesn’t fix it, you can hit me yourself!”
His cheeks were already turning a nasty shade of purple, making Amelia wince.
“The Bennetts are truly gifted. If you aren’t busy abusing others, you’re abusing yourselves. Go see a shrink, you’re freaking me out.”
Amelia turned and headed upstairs; she didn’t want to see another second of that nightmare fuel.
Lucas scrambled to follow her, but the door was slammed in his face.
“Amelia, come on! Just open the door! Alex and Julian will be home soon, they’ll make things right!”
Amelia paced her room, feeling her blood pressure rising even through the door. Even lying in bed didn’t
help because Lucas ldn’t stop chirping outside..
God, I wish I had a rocket launcher for this house.
And he thinks the older brothers are going to make things right‘?
They’re all the same. I’d have to be high to believe a word they say.
Eventually, the noise stopped. Lucas couldn’t get her to budge and finally gave up.
Amelia stayed in her room for meals, avoiding the family entirely until school started back up and she saw Sophia getting into the car.
“Hurry up, sister. We’re gonna be late for class.”
Sophia was sitting in the back seat, looking smug and victorious.
Amelia smirked and hopped in. “Sophia, I’m impressed. The family actually bailed you out after that mess. You must be feeling pretty good.”
“Jealous? This is what twenty years of history looks like. You might share the blood, but you’re still just the trash they threw away.
“If I were you, I’d take a payout and move to the middle of nowhere. At least you’d have a life. Stay here and you’ll end up with nothing.”

Chapter 148 The HIV Scare
Sophia was glowing with confidence, acting like she’d already won the war.
She thinks having the parents‘ support means Sebastian is in the bag? Cute.
Amelia’s hand shot out, grabbing Sophia’s chin with enough force to make her whimper.
“You’re ugly and your delusions are even uglier. By the way, how are those boyfriends of yours doing? Have they called lately?”
Sophia’s eyes widened. Her heart skipped.
“What… what are you talking about?”
She’d had a few things on the side–rich kids she partied hard with. It was supposed to be a “no strings attached” deal.
It was all secret. Once she married Sebastian, she planned to just get a quick “repair” surgery and act like a virgin.
No one would ever dare cross the Sterlings by snitching.
But what did Amelia know?
Amelia leaned back and closed her eyes, a faint, haunting smile playing on her lips.
“Nothing much. I just mentioned to your exes that you’ve been testing positive for HIV.”
Sophia froze in confusion.
What the hell?
“Amelia! You’re freaking insane!”
The quiet car was suddenly filled with Sophia’s hysterical screaming.
Telling people I have HIV? That’s social suicide! If those guys find out–if Sebastian finds out—
Sophia felt a sudden, icy chill crawl down her spine.
Amelia opened one eye and slowly began rubbing her temples, her voice smooth and calm.
“I think you’re the one who’s ‘sick‘ now, Sophia.”
HIV was a life sentence. Those rich kids were the heirs to their families; they wouldn’t go to a clinic and risk a paper trail. They’d come straight to Sophia for ‘confirmation.
Amelia was looking forward to seeing a dozen angry “exes” fighting over Sophia’s head.
