Chapter 150 The Thorne Dynasty
A stunning woman in a sharp blue suit walked in. Her short hair was perfectly styled, and she radiated
pure power.
Several socialites screamed, “Oh my god! It really is Selena Thorne, the CEO of DN Luxe!”
Selena was the only child of the Thorne family–the fourth generation of a political dynasty.
Her family had been in government for decades and didn’t want more kids, so they let Selena pursue
business.
She turned out to be a shark. She knew luxury brands took forever to scale, so she won with volume first. Once she owned the market, she pivoted to prestige.
Now, DN Luxe led the industry in sales, quality, and quantity. She was the undisputed queen of the business world.
Sophia’s mind raced. She remembered something and rushed toward Selena.
“Selena! My brother Dylan talks about you all the time. I hope you’ve been doing well abroad?”
It was true–Selena and the A–lister Dylan Bennett had a secret thing a few years back.
But at the time, Dylan’s obsession with Sophia had been nauseating. Selena realized he had zero backbone and dumped him.
Sophia, being a narcissist, thought Dylan had dumped Selena. She assumed Selena was still pining for him and would give her a pass.
The audience watched them, intrigued.
Wait, Sophia knows Selena Thorne? They actually sound like friends.
Even Asa swallowed hard. He wondered if he’d been too hasty if Sophia actually had clout with the CEO.
Sophia stood tall, giving Amelia a smug side–eye.
With Selena here, she’ll cover for me for Dylan’s sake.
But Selena didn’t even look at her. She walked straight past Sophia to Amelia.
“Girl! It’s been forever! Are you happy to see me?”
Selena lunged forward and gave Amelia a massive bear hug. “You ungrateful brat! You enter a contest like this and don’t even tell me? People are out here bullying you and you didn’t call for backup!”
Amelia was nearly suffocated by Selena’s embrace. She finally managed to push her back and gasped for
air.
“You’ve put on weight, haven’t you?”
Chapter 150 The Thorne Dynasty
Amelia gestured toward Selena’s chest with a smirk.
Selena, the iron lady‘ of the business world, actually blushed and giggled at Amelia’s comment.
“Hey! It’s all–natural, okay?”
Amelia rolled her eyes. “I didn’t ask for the origin story. When did you get back? You didn’t say a word.”
Selena had said she wasn’t coming home for months, yet here she was. A total surprise.
“My dad’s throwing a massive sixtieth birthday bash. He forced me to come back. I had no choice.”
Her father was a retired official who wanted to invite every major international player for his milestone.
As the two of them chatted like sisters, Sophia stood on the sidelines, forgotten and furious.
“Selena? How do you know my sister?”
As far as she knew, Selena Thorne wouldn’t even know Amelia existed, let alone like her.
Fed
Selena finally spared her a glance, her tone bored. “Who I know and where I know them isn’t really your business, is it?”
“I didn’t mean it like that, I just…”
Selena cut her off. “I don’t care what you meant. And don’t act like we’re friends. I don’t know you.”
The crowd erupted into mocking laughter.
“I thought Sophia was her bestie! Selena Thorne doesn’t even know who she is! Hahaha!”
“She’s definitely a fraud. She’s trying to use the CEO to cover up the plagiarism!”
Sophia turned ghostly. “Selena, don’t you remember when you were with Dylan? I helped you out! I gave you gifts!”
“Sophia!” Selena’s voice turned to ice. “I dumped Dylan. Don’t use that story to hide the fact that you’re a thief.”
