Chapter 158 The Midnight Apology
The moment he let go, Amelia gasped for air, her head spinning as if a dozen stars were circling her brow.
Sebastian cupped her flushed face, looking at her with a raw, intense gaze, his voice incredibly husky. “Amelia, don’t ever make me that angry again. I’m afraid of what I might do.”
He was afraid he’d lose control and claim her right then and there!
Their bodies were so close she could feel their hearts racing in a chaotic rhythm; she pressed her hands against his firm chest, trying to create a sliver of safety between them.
‘You’re the one who started it!”
How could this jerk try to flip the script on her!
‘So you did nothing wrong?”
Sebastian suddenly sounded like a pouting child, his voice low and muffled.
“What did I do?” Amelia decided to just stop caring, looking at him with a defiant, ‘make me” expression.
Whatever. She’d had dinner with Selena, who was a woman through and through. Once Sebastian realized how much he’d messed up, she’d make sure he felt guilty for the rest of his life!
“Hmph!”
The veins on Sebastian’s forehead bulged with irritation; he stood up with a cold expression and walked into the bathroom without a backward glance.
Amelia was just as livid; she stormed into her room and slammed the door shut.
Fine, you want to see who has a worse temper? I’ll wait right here until you’re on your knees begging for my forgiveness!

In the bathroom, Sebastian was fuming, but his pride wouldn’t let him just ask her for the truth; he turned on the shower, letting the freezing water pour over his head to douse the flames of his anger.
His phone kept chiming with notifications; he picked it up irritably, but his heart skipped a beat when he saw the screen.
I… I’ve wrongly accused her!
Dammit! I shouldn’t have been so quick to go in there and interrogate her.
Sebastian slammed his fist against the bathroom wall, his eyes glued to the screen as if he wanted to burn a hole through it.
That idiot Ryan–he was so slow with the info! If he’d sent this earlier, would he be in this mess with Amelia right now?
His fingers flew across the screen as he typed a reply. “Don’t bother showing up at the office tomorrow!”
Back at the office, the poor assistant was still working overtime; when he saw the reply, he collapsed onto his desk and started sobbing.
It was over. Sebastian must have already pissed off Amelia. He was a dead man!
After stalling in the bathroom for half an hour, Sebastian finally emerged in a bathrobe; he stood outside Amelia’s door for a long time before finally gathering the courage to turn the handle.
Click. The handle turned, and Sebastian let out a breath of relief.
At least she didn’t lock it; that meant there was still hope for an apology.
He crept into the bedroom and saw only the bedside lamp was on; Amelia had already curled up under the covers and was deep in dreamland.
Sebastian tiptoed to the bed, lifted a corner of the blanket, and slid in beside her.
But the moment he tried to pull her into his arms, Amelia let out an annoyed huff. “Who said you could be in my bed? Get out. Weren’t you acting all big and bad a minute ago?”

No matter how much she tried to push the man away, he didn’t move an inch; instead, he pulled her even closer.
“Let go!” Amelia was struggling to breathe, which only made her angrier.
Sebastian ignored her protests, pinning the squirming girl against his chest and murmuring softly, “I’m sorry, Amelia. I messed up.”
What?
Sebastian Sterling was actually apologizing? And did he sound… like he was sulking?
An old geezer trying to be cute… now this was interesting!
Sebastian’s behavior was completely unexpected, but it wasn’t enough to kill her
anger yet.
‘Oh, who would dare ask the great CEO for an apology? Just snap your fingers and you’ll have a hundred women stripping for your bed. What am I to you? I’m just—”
Sebastian couldn’t take any more; he cut her off with a kiss, silencing her endless
rant.
The atmosphere in the bedroom shifted instantly; Amelia was kissed into a daze, her anger vanishing along with every word she’d been about to say.
After a long moment, Sebastian pulled away, his voice thick with emotion. “Amelia, I was wrong. Please don’t be mad, okay?”
He sounded like an uncle coaxing a child, his voice gentle as he lightly patted her back.
However, the little woman in his arms didn’t respond.
