Chapter 162 The Hypocrite’s Playground
But Sebastian didn’t follow the script. He was clearly enjoying her struggle!
It was infuriating!
Amelia realized she couldn’t beat him at this game, so she just went for the “bratty fiancée” approach. “Whatever, I didn’t do anything wrong anyway. You have to help Selena. After all, you are my fiancé.”
The word “fiance” was like a piece of candy melting in Sebastian’s mouth, leaving a sweet trail behind.
Still, as much as he was enjoying it, he kept up his mysterious facade.
‘If you want my help, you have to come somewhere with me.”
‘Where?” Amelia asked instantly.
Ryan, who was still driving, chimed in. “Mr. Sterling was supposed to meet with a partner for a contract, but he got delayed because he saw you. He still needs to go sign it.”
Amelia cursed her luck. I am definitely regretting not checking my horoscope today. Caught red–handed just by stepping through a door.
She began silently blaming Selena. Why didn’t she park in the garage instead of flaunting her car at the front entrance?
Sebastian saw her conflicted expression, her face scrunched up. “What, you don’t want to? Then as for Selena’s business…”
“I’ll go!” Amelia blurted out. “It’s an honor to see how the great Mr. Sterling does business!”
Sisters before misters. For Selena, she’d walk through fire.
Seeing her look like she was marching to her execution, Sebastian found it hard not to laugh. She looked like a little chick about to be tossed into a frying pan.

The car pulled into the underground garage of the city’s largest private club. Amelia followed Sebastian out of the car and into the elevator to the twelfth floor.
When they stepped out, Amelia took in the lavish decor and shot Sebastian a dirty look.
He’d just busted The Stallion Lounge for being “inappropriate,” and now he was bringing her to a high–end club in the middle of the night?
A club was a club. They all did the same shady business behind closed doors. Who was he to act superior?
Just as she was thinking that, they passed a booth where a woman’s stifled moans drifted out. The quiet hallway was suddenly filled with an illicit tension. Ryan started breaking out in a cold sweat.
Which idiot was ignoring the rules and doing that in a booth where Sebastian Sterling could hear it?
Sebastian shot him a look. Ryan took the hint immediately and turned back to handle the situation in that booth.
“Wait, Ryan-”
“Don’t talk. Get in.”
Sebastian pulled Amelia into a different booth. The chatter inside stopped instantly, and every head turned toward the door.
“Mr. Sterling! You’re incredibly late!”
Because the lighting was so dim, Felix Vane didn’t see Amelia’s face clearly. He assumed Sebastian had brought a “date” and started teasing him. “Our boy never brings a plus–one! What changed? Aren’t you afraid your little fiancée at home will be jealous? Hahaha!”
The other men in the room, oblivious to the tension, joined in.
“He’s usually so clean–cut, I guess with the wedding coming up, he wants one last wild night. Hahaha!”

Sebastian pulled Amelia down into the empty seat at the head of the table. He didn’t answer them. Instead, he picked up a piece of fruit from the table and offered it to her.
“What do you want to cat?” Sebastian’s voice was as gentle as water.
“I’ve already had dinner. I’ll just have some fruit.”
Amelia didn’t stand on ceremony. She took the fruit from Sebastian and started snacking away.
The room went dead silent. Everyone stared, frozen like statues, as their cigarettes continued to smolder in their hands.
Sebastian frowned. “Put the cigarettes out. No smoking today.”
Felix Vance and every other man in the room scrambled to ditch their cigarettes like they were holding hot coals, terrified of upsetting the Shadow King.
Amelia happened to be sitting by the window. As her stunning face caught the dim light, Felix finally saw who she was.
‘Wait… you’re the one from…”
He didn’t finish. Sebastian’s glare shut him up instantly.
Felix covered his mouth, making muffled whimpering sounds.
This beautiful woman… wasn’t she the one he’d seen in Sebastian’s office, getting… very intimate on the sofa?
