Chapter 163 The Lesson in the Booth
It was clear they were old money. The women, however, were dressed provocatively—clearly “hostesses” provided by the club.
Ignoring the murderous looks from his friends, Sebastian gently ruffled Amelia’s hair. “Just a bit of business. I’ll sign the contract and then we’ll go home.”
He then shot a glance at Felix. “Where’s the contract?”
Felix was fuming but didn’t dare explode in front of Amelia. He didn’t want to ruin his ‘refined” image.
He leaned into Sebastian and whispered, “Man, it’s my birthday! We were supposed to go until dawn! What are you doing?”
He was so frustrated he was practically slipping into a regional accent.
I have a fiancée,” Sebastian replied flatly.
Everyone here has a fiancée! Why don’t you have your assistant take her home so we can actually have some fun?”
No matter how Felix argued, Sebastian had one answer. “I have a fiancée.”
The atmosphere became incredibly awkward. The men all lowered their heads, not daring to speak.
But the woman Felix had brought with him looked at Amelia with pure contempt. ‘Mr. Sterling, we’re all here to have a good time. Bringing someone like her is a bit disrespectful to the rest of us, don’t you think?”
The room went even quieter.
The men looked at the woman in shock. Is she insane?
Amelia might have a “reputation” in the tabloids, but she was Sebastian Sterling’s fiancée! The Shadow King himself was sitting right there, and she had the guts to insult her?
די
Seeing no one protest, the woman swayed her hips and sat down next to Felix. “Mr. Vance, people like Amelia are even trashier than we are. I really don’t want to be in the same room as her.”
The temperature in the room dropped to sub–zero.
Everyone looked down, terrified to see the expression on Sebastian’s face. This woman was a dead woman walking.
Felix’s face froze, a murderous glint appearing in his eyes. He’d clearly spoiled this woman too much if she thought she could talk like that!
“Oh? And what kind of ‘trash‘ am I? Please, do tell.”
Before Felix could snap, Amelia asked the question herself, smiling as she chewed on her fruit.
Felix grabbed the woman’s shoulder, his voice a low warning. “Monica, watch your mouth!”
Monica Bryce didn’t see the danger. She’d been with Felix for over a year and had never seen him angry. She assumed he was just being polite for Sebastian’s sake.
She ignored Felix and turned to Sebastian. “Mr. Sterling, you could pick any girl in this club and she’d be better than Amelia!”
Slap!
Felix delivered a stinging blow to Monica’s face. She winced in pain, looking at him in disbelief. “Mr. Vance, you… Argh!”
Slap, slap, slap. Several more hits followed, leaving Monica dazed. Not a soul in the booth moved to help her.
Felix was fast. He didn’t give her a chance to beg for mercy. He grabbed her long hair and slammed her head onto the table with a sickening thud.
Monica’s head hit the wood, and blood began to pool on the table as she lost
consciousness.
The other hostesses gasped and scrambled out of the room in a panicked line.

Felix pulled out a silk handkerchief and wiped his hands with disgust before offering a fawning apology to Amelia.
“Amelia, I am so sorry. I shouldn’t have let such a piece of trash ruin your evening the first time we met.”
The rumors said Amelia was an uneducated country bumpkin. The group had even tried to convince Sebastian to break off the engagement once. But Sebastian never wavered.
After seeing them together in the office, Felix had tried to dig up info on her, but he’d found absolutely nothing.
If she really was just a bumpkin, how could her history be so clean?
Sebastian wasn’t an idiot. He wouldn’t marry a woman who was just a pretty face. Felix was certain Amelia was far more than she seemed.
“Mr. Vance, you should be careful with women who think they can climb over everyone else just because they’re with you. One day, they’ll bring you real trouble.”
Amelia spoke casually, her jaw still working on her snack.
Felix nodded repeatedly. “You’re right, you’re right. Now, it is my birthday, so—”
