Chapter 240 The Music Gala
Felix’s mother, Nora Vane, came from a musical dynasty. She hosted this music competition every single year. But this year, the prize money was astronomical, and the venue was set at Kingsley’s massive Guiness Theater.
Just past 7 PM, the Guiness Theater was already styled in understated luxury. Beneath the massive stage sat numerous round tables, overflowing with champagne, wine, gourmet food, and desserts.
Plenty of socialites arrived early with their daughters, all desperate to score some networking time with Nora.
Eudora was naturally among them. Today, she had specifically dressed Sophia in a cream- colored gown with her long hair styled in an elegant updo–simple, graceful, and looking exactly like a classic heiress.
Eudora had zero shame, dragging Sophia around to chat up everyone in sight. Meanwhile, Vanessa pulled Coral aside to gossip.
“Mrs. Thome, look at Eudora. She has no shame. Her daughter was in all those massive scandals recently, and she’s still parading her around like nothing happened.”
Coral never liked mingling with the business crowd, but since Vanessa had married into the Sterlings, she couldn’t completely blow her off.
She replied coldly, “Mrs. Sterling, you really shouldn’t stick your nose into other people’s business. Focus on your own.”
Before Vanessa could even process the warning, Katherine happily strolled over. “Mrs. Thorne is absolutely right. Sister–in–law just loves to gossip. Careful, someone might hear you spreading bullsh*t and embarrass the Sterling family.”
“How am I embarrassing the Sterlings?! You should focus on keeping your husband in check! Every other day he’s caught sleeping in some random woman’s bed or walking out of some tramp’s house. You’re the ones embarrassing me!”
“None of your damn business! Wait, did you have a hand in those scandals?! Spit it out, was it you?!”
Seeing the two about to tear each other’s hair out, Coral turned away in disgust. She found Selena, pulled her into a corner, and asked anxiously, “Honey, is Amelia coming today?”
Selena flipped her edgy hair and said smugly, “Don’t worry, Mom. Even if the host didn’t show up, my bestie is definitely coming.”

How could she pass up a free hundred million bucks?
Coral was only happy for a few seconds before Nora, wearing an elegant mermaid gown, stepped up to the stage. Holding a microphone, she smiled warmly. “Thank you all for taking the time to attend my gala. Now, let’s welcome the talented young ladies to the stage for their performances!”
The music gala was strictly by registration. Any heir or heiress who wanted to compete had to notify the Vane family. Once the host finalized the roster, they could perform one by one.
Very few of the performers actually cared about the prize money. Most just wanted the clout of performing in front of the city’s top elite.
The first to perform was Chloe. She played the violin beautifully, earning nods of approval from all the socialites in the room.
Even Mrs. Vane was generous with her praise. “This girl definitely has talent. With more practice, she’ll secure a solid place in the music industry.”
Hearing that, Vanessa felt an incredible rush of pride. She quickly walked up to Nora. “Mrs. Vane, Chloe has always looked up to you. That’s why she practices so hard. If you ever have some free time, maybe you could give her a few pointers.”
Nora wasn’t stupid. Vanessa was clearly asking her to take Chloe on as a student. But students were the last thing she needed.
Playing the violin well doesn’t mean she has good character. Nora knew all about Chloe secretly lusting after Sebastian. Cousins hooking up? Absolutely disgusting. What if she sets her sights on my son next? I’d be sick to my stomach for the rest of my life!
“You’re too modest, Mrs. Sterling. Your niece has such amazing resources and talent. Studying abroad would give her a much brighter future.”
“Mrs. Vane…”
“Oh, who’s up next?”
After rejecting her. Nora immediately cut Vanessa off, pointedly asking the butler who was next on the list.
Being rejected so publicly made Vanessa’s face twist into an incredibly ugly expression.
These high–society b*tches are all so damn arrogant! Won’t even take on a student? Like I actually give a shat!
Coming off the stage, Chloe overheard Nora rejecting her aunt. She huffed and grabbed Vanessa’s arm. “Auntie, if Mrs. Vane won’t take me as a student, I won’t have any excuse to get
