Chapter 54 The Kneeling Negotiation
Lucas hadn’t known the dress was a fake; he’d paid his designer millions for it.
Once this was over, he was going to kill that designer.
But under Sophia’s manipulation, Lucas took the fall:
“Don’t worry!” He turned to Amelia with a scowl. “You and Lady Irene seem close. You know her?”
“We aren’t close.” And I’m not helping Sophia!
Amelia brushed a stray hair from her forehead and hummed a tune as she sat back down.
Julian turned to Eudora. “Mom, I’m having the security detail take you home first.”
Eudora felt lightheaded and drained. Every socialite in the room was feasting on her embarrassment; she couldn’t stand another second there and nodded helplessly.
As she stepped into the car, Eudora looked back with a worried expression. “Julian, you have to find a way to help Sophia.”
Julian’s brow furrowed. “Mom, it’s your constant coddling that made her this way. Just stay out of this.”
Eudora opened her mouth to argue, but Julian firmly ushered her into the car.
After seeing her off, Julian approached Amelia with a warm, fawning smile. “Amelia, I had no idea you were coming. I would have loved to pick you up myself.”
Lucas was panicking about the family business failing, and here was Julian acting like a lovesick sycophant.
“Julian! What are we doing about Sophia?”
Julian, finally seeing Amelia, had forgotten everyone else.
He completely ignored Lucas.
“Amelia, please, sit here. What can I get you to eat?”
Julian moved to grab her arm, but Amelia stepped back with a frown.
Is he sick?
“Don’t touch me. We aren’t friends.” Amelia drew a hard line between them.
Julian’s heart felt like it had been crushed.
“Amelia, stop being so difficult! You clearly know Irene. Fix this for Sophia now!” Lucas demanded.
That familiar, arrogant tone made a wave of disgust wash over Amelia.
“Amelia, I know you hate me,” Sophia whimpered. “But this affects the family business. If you help, I’ll do

anything.
“Anything?” Amelia’s lips curled into a wicked smile.
Sophia knew Amelia was up to no good, but she had no choice.
“Yes! To save the family. I’ll even get on my knees.”
“Then get on them.”
Amelia sat back on the sofa, crossing her legs and swirling her wine, a mocking glint in her eyes.
Sophia was stunned. Was this woman serious? She actually wanted her to kneel here?
“What are you waiting for?” Amelia laughed.
Finished
‘Amelia!” Lucas roared, stepping in front of Sophia. “How can you be such a monster? I wish you’d died in the gutter!”
‘Shut up!”
Julian snapped at him, looking at Amelia with desperation. “Amelia, don’t listen to him. He doesn’t mean it.”
Lucas was an idiot, using that kind of venom against Amelia now.
Julian wanted to expose Sophia’s schemes, but doing so would cause even more chaos and destroy the family’s public image.
He tried to tell Lucas to stop, but Lucas wasn’t listening.
Julian, stop protecting her! she’s a parasite!”
‘You-!”
Julian had no comeback. He turned to Amelia. “Amelia, let’s just go home. I’ll make sure you get justice for this.”
Amelia looked at him as if he were a complete stranger.
She had heard Lucas’s insults a thousand times. Her heart was long since numb to them.
“Since I got back, you’ve always told me to give in to Sophia. Even when she was wrong, I was the one who had to lose. Why?”
“If you wanted me to die in the gutter so badly, why did you ever bring me back?”
Sophia was their pampered, shining princess. And her?
They gave her life but no love, and then they treated her like a burden. Were they even human?
She remembered once, Sophia had stolen her only toy. Amelia had been crying when she ran into Julian, accidentally getting a smudge on his suit.
