Chapter 58 The Fall of Lucas Bennett
Finished
Even with Sebastian Sterling in attendance, William had stayed away, citing “busy work.” And now Sophia had offended Lady Irene. Their luck had run out.
Lucas, blind to the danger, stepped forward with arrogant defiance.
“What’s that supposed to mean. Mr. Sterling? Does the Bennett family not even have the right to wear a
dress anymore?”
“Correct. Sebastian arched an eyebrow. “Since the third Bennett son is so incompetent, perhaps he shouldn’t be running a company either.”
Sebastian stood up, his tall frame looming over the room. He reached for Amelia’s hand like a true gentleman. “Shall we go?”
Amelia nodded like a bobblehead. “Yeah, it’s getting stuffy in here. I’d love to see the world with you, Mr. Sterling.”
She’d seen enough of the show for one night.
The room watched in stunned silence as the two left.
The man everyone feared was now gently holding Amelia’s hand, leading her out like she was his most precious treasure.
Sophia slumped to the floor, her eyes fixed on their retreating backs.
Why was Sebastian so devoted to her the moment she returned? When Sophia was his fiancée, he wouldn’t even look at her!
Amelia needs to die!
“It’s getting cold out. ‘Dawn‘ should probably go bankrupt.”
Lucas hadn’t processed Sebastian’s threat yet, but Ryan was already standing in front of him with a
contract.
“Mr. Bennett, let’s discuss the acquisition of Dawn Media.”
“I never said I was selling my company!”
The smile on Ryan’s face didn’t reach his eyes. “You don’t have to sell. But then we’d have to talk about the tax evasion, the under–the–table deals, the embezzlement…”
Ryan threw a thick stack of documents onto the table in front of Lucas, nearly knocking the wind out of
him.
Looking at the evidence of his slush funds and the way he used low–tier actresses for business leverage, Lucas felt his heart go cold.
These were his most guarded secrets. How did Sebastian get them?!

The man was a monster!

Nydia watched the fallout with a cold eye and turned to leave before she got caught in the crossfire.
The rest of the crowd quickly scrambled away from Lucas and Sophia, terrified of being associated with
Sebastian’s next targets.
Lucas turned to Julian in desperation. “Julian! You have to help me! I can’t lose Dawn! I’ll die!”
Julian didn’t have the energy to care if he lived or died.
If you play with fire, you get burned.
“Move. I’m busy.”
He had to find Amelia!
Lucas grabbed his brother’s leg, the CEO of a major agency reduced to sobbing in front of a film crew.
“Julian, Dawn is my life’s work! Please, I’m begging you!”
Julian glared at him. “You should have thought about that before. If you want to save your company, go beg Amelia. Why are you begging me?”
Julian shook him off and walked away.
As he left, he tossed one last warning over his shoulder. “If you keep helping Sophia with her schemes, she’s going to be the death of you.”
Lucas felt like the sky was falling. He didn’t want to sell, but he couldn’t fight a god like Sebastian.
But what did Julian mean? Sophia was so sweet and kind; how could she be his downfall?
Sophia knelt beside him, whispering poison into his ear.
“Lucas, we’re family. How could Amelia turn Sebastian against us like this?”
“You think… Amelia is the one behind the acquisition?”
Lucas frowned. “Does she really have that much power over him?”
“He’s clearly been blinded by her lies! He does whatever she says now!”
Ryan stood before them, his face a mask of professional annoyance.
Talking shit about my lady right in front of me? Really?
He couldn’t take it anymore. He shoved the contract at Lucas. “Sign it, Mr. Bennett.”
Sophia looked at the papers and a dark idea formed in her mind.
“Lucas, just sign it for now. We’ll talk to Alexander when he gets back.”

Lucas nodded. It was his only move.

Alexander and Sebastian had a history. If his older brother begged, maybe they could fix this.
Lucas grabbed the pen and signed his name with a heavy hand. He tossed the pen aside and stormed out.
He ground two words through his teeth: “Amelia Bennett!”
It was all because of her. Everything was her fault!
In the parking garage.
Amelia had just gotten into the car when Julian came sprinting up.
‘Amelia! Wait! Let me talk to you!”
Amelia rolled down the window, looking bored. “If you’re here to beg for Lucas, you should be talking to Mr. Sterling.”
‘ulian wouldn’t dare touch that man.
He lowered his head and shot a cautious glance at the man sitting beside her. “Amelia… if you’re being forced into this, just blink. I’ll risk everything to get you away from him!”
