Chapter 93 The Sterling Vipers
Finished
Jonathan was sitting at the head of the table, looking like a thundercloud, knocking back scotch.
Matthew and Katherine were there too, looking shifty, their eyes tracking Amelia like hawks.
The other kids were either whispering about her or keeping their heads down, too scared to even breathe near Sebastian.
Vanessa had completely flipped her script. She jumped up with this blindingly fake smile, “Sebastian! You must be exhausted. You look so thin!”
Then, she turned that ‘warmth‘ on Amelia, practically dragging her into a seat, “Amelia, darling! Make yourself at home. Don’t be a stranger!”
Amelia sat down, bewildered. She leaned into Sebastian, “Did your stepmom have a lobotomy?”
Sebastian didn’t even look up as he put some fish on her plate, “You saved Grandma’s life. You’re basically a saint in this house now.”
After the way Sebastian had handled things last time, even a snake like Vanessa knew when to play nice.
“Here, Amelia, try the braised pork. I spent three hours on this myself!”
In seconds, Amelia’s plate was a mountain of food.
The meat looked incredible, perfectly glazed and tender. She picked up her fork, but Sebastian moved the dish away.
“Too greasy. Stick to the seafood.”
He pulled a platter of jumbo lobsters toward them, shrugged off his blazer, rolled up his sleeves, and started peeling them for her.
Vanessa’s smile looked like it was about to crack her face.
Katherine, sitting across from her, couldn’t help but twist the knife, “Vanessa, do you really think being a perfect hostess‘ makes everyone forget you tried to poison our mother?”
The table went silent. The only sound was Amelia happily chewing her fish and the snap of lobster shells.
Vanessa finally snapped.
“What’s that supposed to mean, Katherine?”
Katherine let out a sharp laugh. “Nothing. Just surprised Sebastian’s being this nice to you, considering you almost put Grandma in the morgue.”
“I didn’t do anything!” Vanessa screamed, standing up so fast her chair almost flipped.
“Oh, please. The maid was your cousin. Why would she do it if you didn’t pull the strings?”

Chapter 93 The Sterling Vipers
“You b*tch!”
Finished
Vanessa was vibrating with rage, but she kept stealing panicked looks at Sebastian, terrified he’d back Katherine up.
Slam!
Jonathan hit the table so hard the crystal rattled. “Mom isn’t even here yet and you’re already at each other’s throats! Act like adults!”
Katherine drawled, “Jonathan, Sebastian’s the boss here. Maybe worry about your own wife’s body count.”
Jonathan turned a deep shade of purple, but Matthew just groaned, “Katherine, shut it.”
That was the wrong thing to say. “Shut it? Did you think about ‘shutting it‘ when you were hooking up with that Sophia girl in the lounge?”
Iv
“I told you I was set up-
Bang!
Sebastian slammed his plate down. The room went dead. Everyone froze.
Matthew was still fuming, glaring at Amelia with pure venom. He remembered clearly–she was the one who’d baited him into that room.
As for how it turned into Sophia? He knew Amelia had played him like a fiddle.
Sebastian’s eyes were like ice as he scanned the room, “Grandma’s coming out. If I hear one more word of this trash in front of her, you’re all out. Got it?”
Even Katherine didn’t dare challenge him.
Vanessa sank back into her chair, her eyes welling up with ‘woe–is–me‘ tears.
“Is Amelia here yet?”
Eleanor’s voice broke the tension like a fresh breeze.
