Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 141

CHAPTER 88-1

Nyoke on Saturday morning with the strange feeling that something was missing.

For several seconds, I lay beneath the blankets and stared at the ceiling while my mind tried to

figure out what it was, and then I realized what wasn’t there. Fear.

There were no thoughts about suppliers, rumours, Black Reapers, or Charlotte running through my

head. There was just silence.

I stretched beneath the covers, climbed out of bed, and headed into the bathroom where I

showered, brushed my teeth, and pulled my hair into a loose ponytail. When I walked downstairs I

found Jace waiting near the front door with two coffees in his hands. He looked at me.

“Get dressed.” Jace said as I stopped.

“Good morning to you too.” I said and he smiled.

“Good morning.” He said.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“Somewhere.” He asked.

“That’s helpful.” I said so he handed me a coffee.

“You’ll find out.” He said as I narrowed my eyes.

“Should I be worried?” I asked.

“No.” He said.

“Should I pack anything?” I asked.

“Just yourself.” He said and I laughed.

“That sounds suspicious.” I said.

“It isn’t.” He said as he leaned closer and kissed my forehead.

“Trust me.” He added.

I looked at him for several seconds before smiling.

“I do.” I said.

Twenty minutes later, I was sitting behind Jace on his motorcycle with my arms wrapped around

his waist, and the world was already disappearing behind us.

CHAPTER 88 1

The roads climbed gradually into the mountains, and the noise of the town faded until there was

nothing around us except trees, winding roads, and the distant sound of water running somewhere

Below.

I rested my cheek against his back and closed my eyes for a moment. This was exactly what I needed. There was no shop. No angry suppliers. No rumours. No club politics.

There was just the motorcycle beneath us and Jace’s steady presence in front of me and every few minutes, he glanced back to make sure I was okay.

I squeezed his waist whenever he did and eventually, he pulled onto a quiet road overlooking a large mountain lake.

He parked near a grassy clearing, and I climbed off the bike and I looked toward the water.

“Wow.” I said as Jace removed his helmet.

“I thought you’d like it.” He said.

“I love it.” I said.

We carried a small picnic bag toward the lake, and I helped spread a blanket beneath a large tree.

There was bread, fruit, sandwiches, cold drinks, and enough food to make it clear that Jace had

planned everything.

“You did all this?” I asked.

“Some of it.” He said.

“You don’t cook.” I said.

“I can make sandwiches.” He said and I laughed.

“That’s apparently where your talents end.” I said.

“Don’t underestimate my sandwich skills.” He said.

We sat together beside the lake and for the first time in weeks, I allowed myself to relax

completely.

We ate slowly while the afternoon sun warmed our faces, and every now and then, Jace pointed toward something across the water. A bird. A boat and a small cabin tucked between the trees.

We deliberately avoided talking about the war. Neither of us mentioned the Black Reapers, Charlotte, the rumours, or the meeting Jace had been told about.

It felt strange at first, because those subjects had become such a large part of our lives and then

the silence became comfortable.

stretched out on the blanket and looked up through the branches.

“I could stay here forever.” I said as Jace lay beside me.

“You’d get bored.” He said.
