Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 159
CHAPTER 97-1
PAIGE POV
The clubhouse had never been this loud. Music rolled through the backyard, people were laughing over each other and the smell of barbecue drifted through the warm evening air.
After everything that had happened, the Iron Vipers had decided that one successful night deserved a proper celebration.
I stood in the kitchen beside Emma while we prepared enough food to feed what looked like half the town.
“How many people are coming?” I asked and Emma glanced toward the backyard.
“Everyone.” He said and I laughed.
“That’s not a number.” I said.
“It doesn’t need to be.” She said as she handed me another bowl.
“Just keep chopping.” She said so I picked up the knife.
“Yes, chef.” I said and she laughed.
“You’ve been spending too much time with the guys.” She said.
“I’ve learned their terrible habits.” I said.
“That’s dangerous.” She said.
We worked side by side while music played from the speakers outside. Mason kept wandering into the kitchen every few minutes.
“Can I have a burger?” Mason asked.
“They aren’t ready.” Emma said.
“What about this?” Mason asked as he pointed toward a tray.
“That’s vegetables.” I said.
“Exactly.” He said and Emma stared at him.
“You’re not eating the vegetables.” Emma said.
“I was asking.” Mason said.
“You were planning.” Emma said and he laughed and disappeared and I shook my head.
“He’s impossible.” I said as Emma smiled.
“That’s Mason.” She said.
CHAPTER 9-
+25 Poucts
We prepared salads, sliced bread, arranged meat on trays and filled bowls with snacks while the kids ran Through the backyard.
Their laughter carried through the open windows and every now and then someone shouted because a football had gone too close to the barbecue.
By the time the food was ready, the entire yard was packed.
Tables had been pushed together, chairs had been borrowed from inside and several people were sitting on the steps because there weren’t enough seats.
Music played loudly while people talked about the previous night’s operation.
Mason was already telling the story for what I suspected was the fifth time.
“And then they ran.” Mason said as Derek shook his head.
“They didn’t run.” Derek said.
“They absolutely ran.” Mason said.
“They strategically relocated.” Derek said and Mason laughed.
“They ran.” Mason said and everyone around them laughed.
I carried a tray outside with Emma and Jace immediately came toward me.
“You need help?” He asked.
“I’m fine.” I said but he took the tray anyway.
“I can carry it.” I said.
“I know.” He said.
“You don’t listen.” I said.
“I listen selectively.” He said and I smiled.
“That’s not better.” I said.
す
He leaned down and kissed me before taking the food to the table and Emma watched us.
“You two are ridiculous.” Emma said.
“We’ve been told.” I said and she laughed.
The evening continued with everyone eating, drinking and talking.
The kids ran between the tables, and one of them nearly knocked over a chair while chasing the football.
“Careful!” Emma called.
“I am!” A kid yelled.
“You nearly took out three people.” Emma said.
