Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 160
CHAPTER 97-2
“To everyone who came home.” Jace said and glasses lifted across the tables.
“To everyone who came home.” Everyone else said.
I lifted mine too and the words hit me harder than I expected. Everyone came home.
That was why this celebration mattered. It wasn’t just because the club had recovered weapons or disrupted the Black Reapers.
It wasn’t because they had finally scored a victory.
It was because everyone was still sitting around that table.
Mason was still making jokes. Derek was still arguing and Emma was still feeding everyone.
The kids were still running around and Jace was standing beside me.
Nobody was missing. I looked at Jace and he noticed.
“You okay?” Jace asked and I nodded.
“Yeah.” I said.
“What are you thinking?” He asked.
“That this is why you celebrate.” I said as he frowned slightly.
“What do you mean?” He asked.
“Because everyone made it home.” I said and his expression softened.
“Exactly.” He said as I leaned against him.
“I understand now.” I said as he wrapped an arm around me.
“Good.” He said.
す
Later, someone turned the music louder, and people started dancing.
Mason grabbed Emma’s hands and pulled her into the middle of the yard as she laughed.
“You’re terrible.” Emma said.
“I know.” Mason said and Derek joined them.
“He’s worse than terrible.” Derek said as Mason pointed at him.
“Then show us how it’s done.” Mason said so Derek shook his head.
“Absolutely not.” Derek said and everyone laughed so Jace looked at me.
“Come on.” Jace said.
CHAPTER 9
“Where?” I asked.
To dance.” He said.
“I don’t dance.” I said.
“You do tonight.” He said laughing as he pulled me toward the yard.
“I hate you.” I said.
“No, you don’t.” He said.
“Maybe a little.” I said and he smiled.
I let him pull me into the crowd and the music surrounded us, and for several minutes, I forgot about everything else. I laughed. I danced. I watched the kids run around us. I watched the club members celebrate. I watched Jace smile.
And I realized that happiness didn’t always have to be complicated.
Sometimes it was just standing beneath string lights with people you loved while music played and everyone was alive.
As the evening grew later, the children gradually disappeared inside, and the adults settled into smaller
groups.
Emma brought out dessert, and Mason immediately tried to steal a piece.
“Wait.” Emma said making him stop.
“Why?” He asked.
“Because that’s mine.” She said.
“You have six.” He said.
“I know.” She said and he grinned.
“Then you won’t miss one.” He said but she smacked his hand and everyone laughed.
I sat beside Jace on the porch, watching the yard.
“I could get used to this.” I said as he looked at me.
“You should.” He said.
“I think I want to.” I said as his fingers intertwined with mine.
“You belong here.” He said and I smiled.
“You keep saying that.” I said.
“Because it’s true.” He said and I rested my head against his shoulder.
For a little while, everything was peaceful.
CHAPTER 972-
25 Points
Aeross town, however, Victor sat alone inside his office. The celebration had reached him through one of his men, and every detail had only made hits anger worse.
“They’re celebrating. The man said as Victor stared at the photographs on his desk.
“Yes.” Victor said.
“They think they’ve won.” The man said as Victor picked up one photograph of Jace.
“Let them.” Victor said as his fingers tightened around the edge.
“They’ve become comfortable.” Victor added and the man waited.
