Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 16

CHAPTER 12-1

The missing security cameras bothered me far more than the broken window ever had. Broken glass could be replaced and graffiti could be painted over.

A stolen security system meant someone had planned every step before they ever set foot on my. property.

Trevor finished gathering his paperwork before shaking my hand.

“I’ll file everything this afternoon.” He said.

“Thank you.” I said.

“If the sheriff’s office finds anything I’ll be in touch.” Trevor said. I nodded, although I wasn’t expecting miracles.

The parking lot slowly emptied as the morning wore on. Trevor drove away first, George Miller climbed onto his restored Triumph and headed home and a few local customers stopped by to check whether the garage would still be open.

Every one of them looked relieved when I told them Lawson Customs wasn’t closing.

It wasn’t even a consideration and if anything whoever had done this had only made me more determined to stay.

By lunchtime the Iron Vipers were still there and Hunter had someone found a replacement sheet of glass for the front office window.

Derek was measuring the damaged sign with a tape measure and Mason and Blade were unloading timber from the back of a pickup truck.

“What are you all doing?” I frowned.

“Working.” Hunter said without even looking up.

“I can see that.” I said.

“You asked a question.” He said.

“I didn’t ask you to rebuild half my garage.” I said.

“You didn’t have to.” He shrugged and I folded my arms.

“I’ve got insurance.” I said and Hunter grinned.

“And we’ve got free time.” Hunter said.

“I don’t trust that sentence.” I said.

“You shouldn’t.” He said.

Despite my protest nobody slowed down. The old Lawson Customs sign disappeared into the workshop while Derek carefully sanded away the remaining paint.

Mason measured the broken window opening twice before fitting the new glass into place.

Even Jace had traded his leather cut for an old gray t-shirt and he quietly worked beside everyone else as though this were just another Saturday afternoon.
