Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 207
CHAPTER 124
CHAPTER 121-1
I stared at my phone after Sarah finished speaking, because the words someone inside the Black Reapers kept circling through my head.
Jace stood beside me, and his expression had become completely serious.
“Sarah, what exactly did you find?” I asked.
“I’ll explain, but I need you both to understand that this isn’t enough for an arrest.” She said as Jace crossed his arms.
“Then what do you have?” I asked.
“A partial fingerprint.” She said and I looked at him.
“From the listening device?” I asked.
“Yes.” She said.
My heart started beating faster as Sarah continued.
“One usable partial print was recovered from the casing and we ran it through our database.”
“Did you get a match?” I asked.
“We did.” She said as Jace stepped closer to the phone.
“Who?” I asked and Sarah paused before answering.
“His name is Travis Cole.” She said.
“Who the hell is that?” I asked.
“He’s a known associate of the Black Reapers, although he’s not officially listed as a member.” She said as Jace’s jaw tightened.
“I know him.” Jace said making my stomach drop.
“You do?” I asked.
“He has been around Victor’s people for months.” Jace said and Sarah sighed.
“That’s why I called you.” She said and I looked toward the office door.
“So he planted the device?” I asked.
“We can’t say that yet.” She said.
“But you found his fingerprint on it.” I said.
“Part of his fingerprint, yes, and that’s significant, but it’s not enough for an arrest.” She said as Jace shook
his head.
CHAPTER 124-
“Why not?” Jace asked.
Cham
“Because the print is incomplete, and the device itself hasn’t been directly connected to him.” She said.
“But he’s associated with the Black Reapers.” I said.
“Association isn’t proof.” She said
Sarah’s voice remained calm, and I could tell she had repeated that sentence to herself more than once.
“We need something stronger.” She said.
Jace looked at me before returning his attention to the phone.
“Why are you telling us?” Jace asked and Sarah was quiet for a moment.
“Because you deserve to know what we’re finding.” She said.
There was something about her answer that felt carefully measured. I knew Sarah wasn’t suddenly our friend.
She was a police officer, and we were a motorcycle club that had spent months dealing with violence, threats, and criminal activity around us.
Still, she had helped us before.
She had warned us about the escalating violence, and now she was giving us information that could potentially protect me and the club. And Jace seemed to recognize the same thing.
“Thank you for being honest.” Jace said.
“I’d rather be honest than have you find out some other way.” She said and I glanced at him.
“I also need you to understand something.” She added.
“What?” I asked.
“Most of the department already has an opinion about the Iron Vipers.” She said as Jace gave a humorless laugh.
“That’s nothing new.” Jace said.
“They think you’re a bunch of thugs with motorcycles.” She said and I couldn’t help looking at him as he raised an eyebrow.
“She’s not wrong about what they think.” Jace said as Sarah sighed.
“I don’t agree with everything my department thinks, but I can’t pretend I don’t understand why they see things that way.” She said as I leaned against the desk.
