Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 208

CHAPTER 121-2

“What do you need from us? Jace asked.

“Nothing right now. But if you see Travis Cole, don’t confront him.” She said and Jace’s expression hardened.

“We won’t.” Jace said.

“Jace.” Sarah said.

“I said we won’t.” Jace said and Sarah exhaled.

“Good.” She said as I looked at the phone.

“Do you think he’s still watching us?” I asked.

“I think there’s a possibility.” She said.

“That’s not exactly reassuring.” I said.

“I know.” She said as Sarah’s voice softened.

“But we’re making progress.” She added.

That sentence actually made me feel better.

For weeks, it had seemed like we were always reacting. Someone watched the garage. Someone broke into my apartment. Someone planted a listening device. Someone photographed the clubhouse.

Now we finally had a name.

Maybe it wasn’t enough to stop everything, but it was something.

“I’ll keep looking into Travis, and I’ll let you know if anything changes.” Sarah said.

“Thank you.” I said.

“I mean it, Paige.” She said.

“I know.” I said.

The call ended, and I lowered my phone.

For several seconds, neither of us spoke before Jace finally looked at me.

“You okay?” Jace asked.

“Actually, I think I am.” I said and he seemed surprised.

“Why?” He asked.

“Because we finally have something.” I said and he nodded slowly.

“We do.” He said.

A name is better than nothing.” I said.

It is. He said.

I picked up the evidence bag containing the listening device.

“Do you think Travis planted this?” I asked.

“I think it’s possible.” He said.

“But you don’t know.” I said.

“No.” He said.

I appreciated that he didn’t pretend otherwise.

We had spent enough time dealing with people who lied, manipulated, and hid things from us.

I wanted facts. Even when the facts weren’t enough and Jace placed his hand over mine.

“Sarah did the right thing.” Jace said.

“I agree.” I said.

“You trust her?” He asked and I thought about it.

“I trust that she wants something from this.” I said and he smiled slightly.

“That’s honest.” He said.

“I don’t think she’s helping because she suddenly loves us.” I said.

“Neither do I.” He said.

“But I don’t think that makes her help worthless.” I said.

“No.” He said as he squeezed my hand.

“Sometimes people can want different things and still end up on the same side.” He said as I looked at

him.

“That’s probably what Sarah is doing.” I said.

“Probably.” He said as I glanced toward the garage.

“Do you think the police will actually investigate this?” I asked.

“Sarah will.” He said.

“But the others?” I asked and Jace shrugged.

“That depends on what she finds.” He said and I nodded.

For once, I wasn’t angry about the police thinking we were trouble. I couldn’t control what they believed about the Iron Vipers. I could only control what I did.

We spent another hour reviewing security footage and Ethan managed to pull up several clips from the

days surrounding the installation of the device.

Nothing showed Travis clearly.

There were vehicles passing the garage customers coming and going, and people walking along the sidewalk. Then Ethan paused one recording.

“Wait.” Ethan said as Jace moved closer.

“What?” Jace asked as Ethan zoomed in.

A dark SUV was parked across the street. I recognized it immediately.

“That’s the vehicle.” I said as Jace stared at the screen.

“Can you enhance the plate?” Jace asked.

“I’m trying.” Ethan said.

The image sharpened slightly, but the plate remained unreadable and Ethan sighed.

“There’s not enough resolution.” Ethan said and I leaned closer.

“Can you see the driver?” I asked.

“No.” He said and Jace rubbed his jaw.

“Keep it.” Jace said and Ethan nodded.

“We’ll save everything.” Ethan said.

By the time we left the garage, I felt different. I was still cautious. I was still angry. But I wasn’t helpless anymore. We had a fingerprint. We had a name.

We had Sarah working the police side of things and we had the club tightening security around us.

For the first time in weeks, I felt like we were finally moving forward instead of simply waiting for the next

attack.

Unfortunately, across town, Victor Kane was having a very different kind of evening.

He stood inside the Black Reapers clubhouse while one of his men approached with a phone in his hand.

“Victor, we have a problem.” The man said and Victor looked up.

“What kind of problem?” Victor asked.

“The police.” He said and Victor’s eyes narrowed.

“What about them?” Victor asked.

“They found something.” He said.
