Summary for Chapter 210: Ride With Me (Paige and Jace)

Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 210

CHAPTER 122-2

“You could have sent him away.” Damien said.

“I did.” I said.

“He could have left.” Damien said.

“He chose not to.” I said as Damien lowered his voice.

“You didn’t have to do that.” Damien said and I stopped walking.

“Yes, I did.” I said as he stared at me.

“The police don’t have enough evidence yet.” He said.

“Exactly.” I said.

“So why take the risk?” He asked and I turned toward him.

“Because today they have one fingerprint, and tomorrow they could have a statement.” I said and Damien said nothing.

I continued walking toward the main room. Everyone looked up as I entered and nobody asked what had happened.

They didn’t need to.

I walked toward the bar and poured myself a drink and Damien remained near the doorway.

“What happens if the police find out?” Damien asked.

“They won’t.” I said.

“And if they do?” He asked and I looked at him.

“Then we’ll deal with it.” I said and Damien shook his head.

“This isn’t how we usually handle things.” Damien said but I smiled coldly.

“That’s because we’ve spent too long pretending this is still a normal club war.” I said as I looked around the room.

“The Iron Vipers aren’t backing down.” I added and Damien folded his arms.

“Neither are we.” Damien said.

“Good.” I said as I put my glass down.

“Then everyone needs to understand what happens when somebody becomes a liability.” I added and a few men shifted uncomfortably.

“Anyone who knows too much can become a witness, and witnesses can destroy everything.” I said as Damien looked at me carefully.

CHAPTER 13

“You really believe Travis was going to talk?” Damien asked.

belleve people talk when they’re afraid.” I said.

“He was loyal.” Damien said,

“He was loyal until the police showed up.” I said and Damien frowned.

“You don’t know that.” Damien said.

“I don’t need to know. I only need to know what could happen.” I said as I leaned against the bar.

The room fell silent again and I looked at the men surrounding me.

“We are already dealing with the Iron Vipers, the police, and whoever is stealing from both sides.” I said as Damien nodded.

“Then we need to find the third party.” Damien said.

“We will.” I said.

“And Paige?” Damien asked as I looked at him.

“What about her?” I asked.

“She’s becoming a bigger target.” Damien said as my jaw tightened.

“She always was.” I said as Damien studied me.

“Then why haven’t you hit the Iron Vipers harder?” Damien asked.

“Because Jace expects retaliation.” I said.

“So?” Damien asked.

“So I don’t give him what he expects.” I said and Damien’s expression changed.

“What are you planning?” He asked as I picked up my glass.

“You’ll know when you need to.” I said as he shook his head.

“You’re keeping everyone in the dark.” Damien said.

“I’m keeping everyone alive.” I said and Damien didn’t argue.

He knew better so I returned to my office later that evening and I sat behind the desk while the clubhouse continued moving around me.

I pulled out my phone and there were messages from several people, but one caught my attention.

Police are asking questions.

I deleted it. Then another arrived.

Sarah Collins was at the station earlier.

stared at the message.

Sarah.

She was getting closer Too close so I leaned back in my chair.

The police had found Travis’s fingerprint, and now Sarah was asking questions

If she connected Travis to the listening device, she would start digging into the garage surveillance.

If she found the photographs, she might uncover more. And if she discovered how long we had been watching Paige, the situation would become considerably worse.

I needed to know exactly what she had and I called one of my men.

“Find out everything Sarah knows.” I said.

“Understood.” He said.

“And don’t approach her.” I said and there was a pause.

“Why?” He asked.

“Because I don’t want the police knowing we’re watching them.” I said andl ended the call.

Outside, thunder rolled across the sky.

I stared through the window at the dark parking lot, and for the first time that evening, I wondered whether killing Travis had actually solved anything.

It had removed one problem. But it had also created another. Because now there was a body. And bodies had a way of creating questions.

Across town, Sarah Collins sat at her desk while the rest of the station slowly emptied for the night and a uniformed officer approached her with a file.

“Detective Collins?” He said as she looked up.

“Yes?” She asked.

“We found something.” He said as Sarah took the file.

“What?” She asked as the officer hesitated.

“Travis Cole.” He said and Sarah’s expression tightened.

“What about him?” She asked.

“He was found dead tonight.” The officer said as she slowly opened the file.

“Where?” She asked.

“At an abandoned property outside town.” He said.

Sarah looked through the photographs, and her stomach sank.
