Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 215
CHAPTER 125-1
Victor’s POV
I waited until late afternoon before I went looking for Charlotte, because anger was useful only when it was controlled.
If I had confronted her immediately after learning she had visited Paige, I might have said too much.
I might have acted too quickly. Instead, I let the information settle while I watched the clubhouse slowly empty.
Charlotte had made a mistake, and she knew it.
The question was whether she understood how expensive that mistake could become.
I found her at the house just after six, and she was sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee she
hadn’t touched.
She looked up when I entered and her face tightened.
“Victor.” She said as I closed the door behind me.
“We need to talk.” I said.
“About what?” She asked as I stared at her.
“Don’t insult me.” I said as her fingers tightened around the mug.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She said.
“You went to Lawson Customs.” I said and the color drained from her face.
“Who told you?” She asked.
“That’s not important.” I said.
“It is to me.” She said and I walked toward the table.
“What matters is that you went there.” I said and she stood.
“I needed to speak to Paige.” She said.
“You needed to speak to the woman we’ve been working against?” I said as Charlotte shook her head.
“I wasn’t working against her.” Charlotte said as I gave her a cold smile.
“That’s an interesting way to describe everything you’ve done.” I said and she looked away.
“I was trying to fix things.” She said.
“You don’t fix things by walking into the enemy’s garage.” I said.
“I wanted answers.” She said.

“You wanted protection.” I said and her eyes snapped toward me.
wanted to get away from you.” She said and the words hung between us and I studied her carefully.
“So that’s what this is” I said as Charlotte’s breathing became heavier
“You’ve changed.” She said.
“No.” I said as I stepped closer.
“You simply finally noticed who I was.” I added and she shook her head.
“I didn’t agree to this.” She said.
“You agreed to work with me,” I said.
“I agreed because you promised you could help me.” She said.
“I did help you.” I said.
“You used me.” She said and I laughed quietly.
“Everyone uses everyone.” I said.
“That’s not true.” She said.
“It is.” I said.
I moved toward the kitchen counter and poured myself a glass of water.
“You thought you were getting revenge, and I thought I was getting access to information.” I said as Charlotte stared at me.
“And now?” She asked.
“Now you’ve become a liability.” I said as she stiffened.
“You said I was useful.” She said.
“You were.” I said.
The answer frightened her more than anger would have. I could see it in her eyes.
She finally understood that whatever relationship she believed we had never existed.

There had never been friendship. There had never been loyalty. There had only been usefulness. And she had mistaken that for something else.
“You don’t own me.” She whispered and I looked at her.
“I never said I did.” I said.
“But you act like it.” She said.
“You belong to no one, Charlotte.” I said and she frowned.

“You just said I’m a liability.” She said.
“Because you made yourself one.” I said and she stepped backward.
“What happens now?” She asked as I placed the glass down.
“That depends on you.” I said.
