Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 241
CHAPTER 138-2
“You should have stayed away from Paige.” He said.
“I tried.” I said.
“You weren’t supposed to try.” He said.
“I thought you wanted the information.” I said.
“I wanted results.” He said.
“What kind of results?” I asked and he turned.
“The kind that would destroy the Iron Vipers.” He said and my breathing became shallow.
“And Paige?” I asked as Victor stared at me.
“Paige is the key.” He said as my fingers tightened around the phone.
“Why?” I asked.
“Because she’s connected to things she doesn’t understand.” He said.
“What things?” I asked as Victor smiled.
“You’ll know when you’re told.” He said.
“And the journals?” I asked.
His expression changed. That was the reaction I’d been waiting for.
“You don’t need to know about the journals.” He said.
“But you asked me to get information about Lawson Customs.” I said.
“I asked you to find out what Paige knew.” He said.
“About Uncle Will?” I asked and Victor’s eyes narrowed.
“You’re asking too many questions.” He said and I knew I had pushed too far.
I took a step backward and Victor noticed my phone as his gaze dropped toward my hand.
“What are you doing?” He asked as my heart stopped.
“Nothing.” I said and he walked toward me.
“Give me your phone.” He said as I stepped back.
“Why?” I asked.
“Because I asked.” He said but I shook my head.
“I don’t have anything.” I said but Victor reached for me so I turned and ran.

“Charlotte!” He yelled.
grabbed the door handle and pulled it open.
His men were already moving in the hallway and i pushed past one of them and ran down the stairs.
“Stop her!” Victor yelled.
I heard footsteps behind me but I didn’t stop.
I reached the lobby and shoved through the front doors, because the cold air hit my face and gave me a second burst of strength.
My car was parked across the lot. I fumbled with my keys as a hand grabbed my shoulder.
I screamed and swung around.
The man stumbled backward, and I pulled free so I ran to the car.
The doors unlocked, and I threw myself inside.
The engine started on the first attempt. I reversed hard, nearly hitting another vehicle, and then I accelerated toward the road.
My hands were shaking so badly that I could barely hold the steering wheel.
I looked in the rearview mirror and two vehicles were leaving the parking lot behind me.
They were following so I pressed the accelerator. I didn’t know where I was going. I only knew where I couldn’t go.
Home was impossible. My father’s house was impossible. The police were impossible.
Victor had connections everywhere and then I thought of Paige.
I didn’t trust her and she didn’t trust me. But she was the only person Victor feared enough to keep watching.
And she was the only person who might believe what I had recorded so I grabbed my phone from the passenger seat.
The recording was still running and I stopped it. Then I checked the file.
It was there. I had proof. Victor had admitted he wanted to destroy the Iron Vipers.
He had talked about Paige. He had mentioned the journals. He had admitted that I was useful until I became a liability.
It wasn’t enough to expose everything, but it was enough to prove I hadn’t imagined the danger.
My phone rang.
Victor.
I ignored it and it rang again but I ignored it again.

Then a message appeared.
You made a very stupid mistake.
My hands shook as another message arrived.
You won’t get far.
I looked in the mirror and the vehicles were still behind me.
CHP
I took a different road, because I knew the town well enough to lose someone who didn’t know the back
streets.
After several turns, one vehicle disappeared. Then the other but I didn’t slow down.
I drove toward Lawson Customs.
I knew Paige might hate me. I knew she might slam the door in my face. I knew Jace and the Iron Vipers might refuse to believe anything I said.
But I had nowhere else to go.
As the familiar streets appeared ahead, I gripped the steering wheel tighter.
I had spent months helping Victor. I had fed him information. I had helped him target Paige. I had believed I was clever enough to stay on his good side.
