Summary for Chapter 269: Ride With Me (Paige and Jace)

Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 269

CHAPTER 154-1

Paige’s POV

By Saturday morning, Lawson Customs looked more like a community center than a motorcycle workshop, because every available parking space was filled with trucks, motorcycles, and family cars, while a long table near the entrance was covered with coffee, bottled water, sandwiches, and homemade cookies.

The sign hanging above the office door explained everything.

COMMUNITY CHARITY DAY

FREE REPAIRS FOR VETERANS AND EMERGENCY WORKERS

I stood beneath it with a cup of coffee in my hand, and I smiled when I watched another motorcycle pull into the lot.

“This is going to be busy.” Mia said beside me.

“You think?” I asked as she looked across the parking lot.

“Paige, there are already twenty motorcycles.” She said and I laughed.

“I expected a good turnout, but I didn’t expect this.” I said.

“People remember who helps them.” She said.

I looked around at the people gathering outside the workshops, and her words settled somewhere deep inside me.

That was exactly why I had wanted to do this.

Lawson Customs had grown because of the community, because ordinary people had continued bringing their vehicles to us even when rumors tried to destroy the business, and because veterans and emergency workers had supported businesses like mine long before anyone knew my name.

Giving something back felt right.

The Iron Vipers had volunteered too, which meant the clubhouse had practically emptied that morning.

Jace stood near the second workshop with Mason and Derek, helping organize the motorcycles waiting for inspections, while Ben and Aiden worked inside.

Diesel was lying beside the front office, enjoying the attention from several children who had already decided he belonged to them and I walked toward Jace.

“You’ve been recruited.” I said as he looked down at the clipboard in his hand.

“I’ve been promoted to parking director.” Jace said.

“That sounds important.” I said.

“It is.” He said.

CHAPTER 4.

“What does a parking director actually do?” I asked as he looked around.

Apparently, I point at empty spaces and tell people where to park.” He said and I smiled.

“You’re doing an excellent job.” I said.

“I know.” He said.

I kissed his cheek before walking toward the workshop.

Inside, the noise was constant.

Tools clattered, engines turned over, people talked, and the smell of oil filled the air.

Ben was working on an older, motorcycle while Aiden inspected another one beside him.

“How’s it going?” I asked.

“Good. This one needs more attention than the owner originally thought.” Ben replied.

The owner, an older man wearing a veteran’s cap, laughed from nearby.

“I told him the bike was fine.” The owner said and Ben looked at me.

“He told me that five minutes before I found the problem.” Ben said.

“You mechanics always find something.” The man said.

“That’s because we look.” Ben said and Aiden smiled.

“He’s been saying that since he arrived.” Aiden said and I laughed.

“You two are already getting along.” I said.

“We have an understanding.” Ben said.

“He talks, and I pretend to listen.” Aiden replied as Ben shook his head.

“I regret liking him.” Ben said.

Chem

The morning continued at full speed and some veterans arrived alone, while others came with spouses or friends. Emergency workers came between shifts, and several firefighters arrived together in a department truck before bringing their motorcycles into the inspection line.

Nobody paid for labor. Nobody paid for basic repairs.
