Summary for Chapter 272: Ride With Me (Paige and Jace)

Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 272

CHAPTER 155-2

“And you think that person could still be active?” I asked.

“I think we shouldn’t assume they’re dead.” Ethan said.

That sentence stayed with me after the call ended and Mason watched me.

“What did he find?” Mason asked.

“More evidence that the warehouse investigation never really ended.” I said as Derek leaned against the

table.

“And Victor disappears at the same time.” Derek said.

“Exactly.” I said as nobody spoke for several seconds. Then Mason said what we were all thinking.

“Do you think Victor is hiding because he knows we’re getting close?” Mason asked.

“Maybe.” I said but Derek shook his head.

“Victor doesn’t hide.” Derek said.

“No. He doesn’t.” I said.

That was what bothered me most.

A man like Victor didn’t disappear because he was frightened.

He disappeared because he wanted something to happen without anyone knowing where he was.

The rest of the day passed with no sign of him.

We checked the known Black Reaper locations, watched the usual meeting places, and quietly contacted people who might have heard something.

Nothing.

Every answer was the same. Nobody knew where Victor had gone. Nobody knew what Damien was doing. Nobody knew whether the Black Reapers were preparing something or simply waiting.

By evening, the clubhouse had become unusually quiet.

Paige arrived shortly after dinner, and the moment she walked through the door, she looked at me.

“You’ve been thinking too much.” She said and I smiled.

“That obvious?” I asked.

“You’ve had the same expression since I walked in.” She said as she came over and kissed me before sitting beside me.

“What’s happening?” She asked.

Victor is still missing.” I said and her expression changed.

“Still?” She asked.

“Still.” I said.

“Any word from Damien?” She asked.

“Nothing.” I said and she frowned.

“That isn’t like him.” She said.

“No.” I said as she rested her hand on mine.

“Do you think Victor left town?” She asked.

“I don’t know.” I said.

“Do you think he’s planning another attack?” She asked.

“I don’t know that either.” I said as she looked at me.

“You hate saying that.” She said.

“I hate not knowing.” I said.

Clam

“I know. Then don’t let the uncertainty convince you that something terrible is already happening.” She said as her fingers squeezed mine.

“You’re getting very good at talking me down.” I said.

“Someone has to.” She said and I smiled as she leaned against me.

“We’ll figure it out.” I said as I kissed the top of her head.

“I hope you’re right.” She said.

Later that night, Ethan called everyone into the office.

Charlotte was already there. She had been staying at the clubhouse under protection, and although the tension between her and the rest of us had eased slightly, nobody had forgotten what she had done.

Ethan had several files spread across the desk.

“I found something.” Ethan said as Charlotte stood near the wall.

“What?” Charlotte asked as Ethan opened a scanned photograph.

“This was inside one of Uncle Will’s files.” Ethan said and I looked at the image.

It showed an old warehouse, several vehicles, and a group of men standing near the entrance.

Charlotte moved closer and her eyes immediately fixed on a small mark in the corner of the photograph. And She went pale.

“Where did you get that?” Charlotte asked as Ethan looked at her.

“From Uncle Will’s records.” Ethan said as Charlotte stepped closer to the screen.

That symbol.” Charlotte said.

“What about it?” I asked.

She pointed toward the corner of the photograph.

“I’ve seen it before.” She said and the room went completely silent.

“Where?” Paige asked as Charlotte swallowed.

“Victor had it.” Charlotte said and I stared at her.

“When?” I asked.

“Recently.” She said as Ethan immediately opened another file.

“Are you sure?” Ethan asked.

“Yes.” Charlotte said as her voice trembled.

“I saw it on one of the documents Victor kept locked away.” She added and I stepped toward her.

“Why didn’t you tell us?” I asked.

“Because I didn’t know what it meant.” She said and Ethan turned the laptop toward her.

“Look at this.” Ethan said as he opened another photograph.

The same symbol appeared again, this time carved into the corner of an old wooden crate and Charlotte’s face changed.

“That was in Victor’s office.” Charlotte said and I felt the air leave the room.

“You’ve seen this exact symbol?” I asked.
