“I know.” Jace said.

Caleb looked relieved for half a second, but Jace wasn’t finished.

“If we protect you, you tell us everything you know.” Jace said.

“I will.” Caleb said.

“And if you’re lying?” Jace asked.

“I won’t be.” Caleb said.

“That’s not what I asked.” Jace said as Caleb swallowed.

“If I’m lying, you can turn me over to the police.” Caleb said as I watched Jace carefully.

He didn’t look pleased by the offer, but he didn’t reject it either.

“We’ll hear you out.” Jace said and Caleb nodded.

“Thank you.” Caleb said.

“Don’t thank me yet.” Jace said as he pulled out a chair.

“Think carefully, and tell us everything about this planned attack.” Jace started and Caleb closed his eyes.

“I only heard a few words.” Caleb said.

“What words?” Jace asked as he looked at me.

“The target is somewhere they know you use regularly.” Caleb said as my stomach tightened.

“Lawson Customs?” I asked.

“No.” He said.

“Then what?” I asked.

“I don’t know.” He said as he rubbed his forehead.

“There was something about families.” He added and Jace’s expression changed.

“What about families?” Jace asked.

“They said the attack would hurt more because people would be there.” Caleb said.
