Summary for Chapter 299: Ride With Me (Paige and Jace)

Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 299

CHAPTER 168-2

There were stories about old rides, embarrassing mistakes, broker-down motorcycles, and club members who had made questionable decisions when they were younger.

I listened to several stories about Jace that I had never heard before, and every time someone revealed another embarrassing detail, he protested while everyone else laughed.

“You were nineteen.” Mason said.

“That does not make it better.” Jace said.

“It makes it funnier.” Mason said and I laughed as Jace shook his head.

“You are all enjoying this too much.” Jace said.

“We have been waiting years to tell her.” Derek said and I looked at Jace.

“What else don’t I know?” I asked.

“Nothing important.” Jace said.

“That answer makes me nervous.” I said.

Everyone laughed again, and Jace reached over to squeeze my hand.

Later that evening, after dinner had been cleared away, the children gathered around Jace near the motorcycles.

“Can you

show us how they work?” One of them asked and Jace looked at me so I smiled.

“Go ahead.” Jace said.

He crouched beside one of the bikes while the children gathered around him.

“First, you need to understand that motorcycles require regular maintenance.” He explained and one of the children raised a hand.

“Does that mean cleaning them?” One kid asked.

“Cleaning is part of it, but there is more to it than that.” He said.

Jace showed them how to check the oil, inspect the tires, and look for obvious problems before riding.

He explained why tire pressure mattered, why loose components needed attention, and why regular maintenance could prevent larger problems.

The children listened closely, because Jace had somehow transformed motorcycle maintenance into the most interesting lesson they had ever received.

I watched from nearby, and a smile spread across my face.

“You look happy.” Sophia said and I glanced at her.

“Ham” I said and she bumped my shoulder gently.

“You really are part of this family now.” She said and I looked toward Jace and the children.

“I think I am.” I said and Emmá joined us.

“You do not even notice it anymore.” Emma said.

“Notice what?” I asked.

“How naturally you fit into everything.” She said and I smiled.

“I used to think I would never understand this life.” I said.

“And now?” She asked.

I looked around the campsite, because the club members were laughing near the fire, children were running between the tents, dogs were sleeping near their owners, and Jace was patiently answering another question about motorcycles.

“Now I cannot imagine life without it.” I said and Sophia smiled.

“That sounds serious.” She said.

“It is.” I said as Emma looked at me.

“Even the chaos?” Emma asked.

“Especially the chaos.” I said.

We laughed, and I realized how much had changed.

There had been a time when I thought family meant people who shared your blood, but the people sitting around that fire had taught me something different.

Family could also be built through loyalty, trust, protection, and the choice to stand beside someone when life became difficult.

Jace eventually returned and dropped into the chair beside me.

“You missed the most important part.” Jace said.

“What was that?” I asked.

“I taught them how to check brake fluid.” He said and I smiled.

“I am incredibly impressed.” I said.

“You should be.” He said.

He wrapped an arm around me, and I rested my head against his shoulder.

For a while, neither of us spoke.

The fire crackled, the night air cooled around us, and the distant laughter of the children carried through the trees.

CHAPTER 1

It was peaceful. It was exactly what needed and then Diesel suddenly lifted his head.

noticed because he had been sleeping beside my chair only seconds earlier.

His ears moved forward, and he stared toward the darkness beyond the campsite.

“What is it?” I whispered as Jace followed my gaze.

“Probably an animal.” Jacé said.

Diesel stood and sniffed the air before looking toward the tree line.

Derek, who was sitting across the fire, noticed him too so he stood.
