Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 326
CHAPTER 182-1
Oliver Hayes wanted to help, and I could appreciate that because rebuilding a damaged business was never going to be cheap.
Still, when he explained the amount he was prepared to donate, I immediately knew I couldn’t accept it.
“That is far too much.” I said.
Oliver sat across from me in the small office at Lawson Customs, and Jace stood beside the door with his arms folded.
“It would cover a significant portion of the rebuilding costs.” Oliver replied.
“I understand that.” I said.
“Then what is the problem?” He asked as I looked at Jace before answering.
“We don’t need charity.” I said and Oliver studied me for a moment.
“I didn’t offer it because I think you can’t recover.” He said.
“Then why?” I asked.
“Because I knew Will, and because I know what he built.” He said.
His answer softened something in me, but it didn’t change my decision.
“I appreciate that, but I don’t want Lawson Customs of the Iron Vipers accepting money simply because someone feels sorry for us.” I said and Jace nodded/
“That’s where we stand.” I added and Oliver smiled slightly.
“I expected you to say that.” He said.
He reached into his briefcase and removed a folder.
“Then perhaps we can approach this differently.” He said and he placed the folder on the desk.
“What is that?” I asked.
“Contracts.” He said and I opened the folder and started reading as my eyebrows lifted.
There were several restoration projects listed, and every one of them was substantial.
“These are real contracts?” I asked.
“They are.” He said.
“You want Lawson Customs to handle these?” I asked.
“I want your business to earn the money.” He said and I looked at him.
“You planned this before you came here.” I said.
CHAPTER 18+.
considered the possibility that you would refuse the donation.” He said and Jace smiled.
“You know her well.” Jace said and Oliver laughed.
“I have known Paige’s reputation for years.” He said.
I continued reading the contracts, and the numbers were impressive.
“These projects would keep the restoration side of the business busy for months.” I said.
“That is the idea.” Oliver said.
“You could send this work somewhere else.” I said.
“I could.” He said.
“Then why here?” I asked.
“Because I have seen what your workshop produces, and I would rather pay a business that deserves the work than hand someone a check and walk away.” He said and I looked at Jace.
He gave me a small nod.
The difference mattered and Oliver wasn’t giving us money.
He was giving us an opportunity so I closed the folder.
“I can accept contracts.” I said as Oliver smiled.
“Good.” He said.
“But we will do the work properly.” I said.
“I would expect nothing less.” He said.
“And you will be charged our normal rates.” I said.
“Of course.” He said as Jace finally stepped forward.
“Then we have a deal.” Jace said so Oliver stood and extended his hand.
Jace shook it first, and then Oliver offered his hand to me and I accepted.
“Thank you.” I said.
“You are welcome.” He said.
After Oliver left, I returned to the workshop with the contracts tucked beneath my arm and Mia immediately noticed.
“What happened?” She said.
