Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 328
CHAPTER 183-1
I was standing beside the workbench when Sarah called again, and the moment I heard her voice, I knew the results weren’t going to make me feel any better.
“What did you find?” I asked and Sarah took a breath.
“The warehouse fire was definitely arson.” She said as I closed my eyes briefly.
“We already knew that.” I said.
“We suspected it, but now we can prove it.” She said.
Jace was standing nearby, and he immediately moved closer when he heard Sarah’s words.
“What changed?” He asked and Sarah continued.
“The fire investigators found traces of an accelerant in multiple areas of the warehouse, and the pattern is consistent with a deliberately started fire.” She said as my stomach tightened.
“Multiple areas?” I asked.
“Yes, Paige, and that’s important because it means the fire was designed to spread quickly.” She said as Jace’s expression hardened.
“Do you have enough to connect it to Victor?” Jace asked.
“Not directly.” She said and I felt frustration rising inside me.
“His symbol was on the wall.” I said.
“I know.” She said.
“He has threatened us repeatedly.” I said.
“I know that too.” She said.
“He disappeared, then the warehouse burns, and he is standing across the road watching it happen.” I said as Sarah sighed.
“I understand why you believe it was him, but believing something and proving it are two different things.” She said as I looked away.
That was the part that drove me crazy.
We knew Victor was involved in the attacks. We knew he had threatened me, the club, and our families. We knew the Black Reapers had been connected to the warehouse.
We even had a witness who had seen Victor’s people operating around Lawson Customs.
Yet somehow, none of it was enough to put him behind bars.
“What did the forensic team find besides the accelerant?” Jace asked.
CHAPTER 18-
“There were traces from several items recovered near the property, and some of those traces match evidence from previous incidents connected to the Black Reapers.” She said as Jace looked at me.
“Which incidents?” Jase asked.
Charts
“Some of the earlier attacks, including evidence recovered after the Lawson Customs incident.” She said and my heart began beating faster.
“So there is a connection.” I said.
“There is a forensic connection. But we still need to establish who placed the material at the warehouse.” Sarah said.
“Victor.” I said.
“I understand.” She said.
“No, Sarah, I’m serious.” I said.
“I know you are.” She said as I ran a hand through my hair.
“What else do you need?” I asked.
“A witness who can place Victor at the scene, evidence that directly connects him to the planning, or something that establishes his orders.” She said and I looked toward Jace.
“We have Charlotte’s recording.” I said.
“We do. But it doesn’t mention this fire.” Sarah said.
I knew she was right, but knowing that didn’t make it easier.
“Then what are we supposed to do?” I asked.
“Keep giving us evidence.” She said.
The call ended shortly afterward, and I lowered the phone.
For several seconds, I stared at it and then I looked at Jace.
“This is ridiculous.” I said as he leaned against the workbench.
“I know.” He said.
“We have spent months dealing with him.” I said.
“I know.” He said.
